Huh, well that would explain why I'm on business day 37 waiting for my IV invoice :)

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Yes this also happened to me at Vancouver consulate a few weeks ago. My interview was July 10th and it took an extra week for my visa to get issued and printed because of a worldwide computer issue that happened July 11th. It that has since been fixed, my visa has been issued and recieved. Makes me wonder if this is another/different issue, or media getting wind of a problem from a few weeks ago.

The email I received from the consulate dated July 18th:

There was a delay in the processing of your K-1 visa because late last week there was a severe worldwide computer issue and our systems were down. Once the system came back up on Monday, it basically took time to catch up on all the cases that were affected by this computer problem. We have since issued your visa, your package is being shipped to Loomis this afternoon. Please wait for Loomis to contact you by email to advise you when to pick up your package at the Loomis location you selected.

I really hope they get that fixed as fast as they did in your case. I have a work contract here that would force me to work till the end of december if I don't quit by August 15th. With my wife working fulltime now that would be a really awefull time since we couldn't even talk besides on the weekends :(

Ok, so when I went for my ROC interview (divorce waiver), she approved me and then said "They forgot to run background checks on a bunch of packets, so there could be a delay in issuing your Green Card."

It all makes sense now. I might be the only one who feels relieved at this news :)

Ready for my grand ol' timeline? Alrighty then!

10-05-10 - Married in California
06-13-11 - I-130 approved

They're making a mountain out of a mole hill. Databases crash regularly in the IT world and while they cause a delay its not a permanent thing. If the crash was so catastrophic that it lasted weeks or months...we'd have a much bigger problem. Heads would roll somewhere.

Thanks for that bit of rational thinking. The other threads in the general forum are so panicky.

Just had our interview on Tuesday, after we were originally scheduled for Monday and the embassy cancelled all interviews due to their system being down. Hopefully, we get it soon. I think it's just an excuse to help them with their backlog.

Databases do not crash regularly in the IT world, not my IT world. If they did then I would certainly be out of a job along with our DBA!

This sounds like what sweetmelissa alluded to in the message she received and others posted in the main forum thread about this subject. Sounds like it was a problem that took the DB offline and things are already back up. Sounds like this happened back about July 11 and delayed processing for approximately 1 week.

So why did the Department of State make a Facebook about it yesterday? The whole thing is weird.

5/21/2016: Mailed I-751 packet to CSC

5/23/2016: NOA1

7/29/2016: Biometrics Appointment

11/22/2016: I-751 Approved!

My guess would be that they made a post about it to get ahead of the news that was about to "break" so they could save a little face.

All of this is speculation on my part of course. Maybe I'm hoping I'm right!

The Department of State posted the Facebook status yesterday afternoon. The Associated Press picked it up last night. Lazy journalism at its finest, the story has been reposted, word for word, on just about every other outlet since then. I'm just perplexed that there is literally nothing on their official website about this. Unless something has been posted within the last few hours and I just haven't seen it yet.

This whole thing is just weird lol

Agreed it is most weird. Does anyone know of anyone having gotten through to NVC today to ask about it?

NVC I talked to yesterday and there was nothing mentioned, other than "Yeah 30 business days" stuff.

we had our ds-260 signature appointment on Wednesday July 23rd. The officer said our visa was approved. But the CEAC status has not updated since July 14th. Too much frustration for one process.
