Hello. I am a US citizen and I started a K1 application to bring over my fiance from abroad. What happens if things don't work out and we end up not getting married? How long would I have to wait to file a new K1 for a new fiance? Could I file a K3 application immediately if I marry another person abroad after cancelling my K1 application? Thank you

Wait, what? How could you find someone so quickly & marry them right away and why are you even thinking about this if you're engaged? Don't you know this person very well that you're engaged to? I got engaged pretty quickly to my fiancé, but there was a lot of conversation involved and I feel I know him better than most people I know around here who have been together for 10 years or more. All I know is that filing so quickly afterward may send up a red flag...

Interview Result: missing paperwork. Took a few weeks for them to get back to his case because of the holidays.

K-1 Approval: 2015-01-15

US Entry: 2015-01-29

Why are you planning ahead if things don't work out?! It sounds like you might have underlying doubts about your engagement.

05-18-2022: Filed N-400 online. Received online NOA and Biometrics re-use.

06-03-2022: Interview scheduled (online notice).

06-10-2022: Interview letter received via USPS.

07-11-2022: Naturalization Interview

Wow....

Immigration aspect: K-3 is pretty much obsolete. If you marry, then you would file an I-130 to begin the CR-1 process. You will need to provide evidence of your bona fide marriage. I doubt they will overlook marrying someone else immediately following filing a petition for a foreign fiance(e) to get a K-1.

Marriage is one of those even if you are 100% sure at the beginning, it can fail.

So how could you even possibly start the K1 processing if you have enough

doubt to even raise a such question?

Also, I believe you have a limit of two K1 filing in your lifetime...

though you might be able to get exemption to do more...

but not likely with start-then-cancel or quick divorce history.

You guys should take time to reaffirm your marriage

before starting the K1 processing...to save some future headaches.

Based on reading what you have to say you get no advice or suggestions.

Already questioning if it is going to work out or not while your k1 is in process? Hypothetically if your k1 fiance did fail, then you would be able to marry someone RIGHT after k1 petition being cancelled? Why the hell are you even having these questions while you are engaged.

Grow up and save her the pain.
