I can admit to the USA taking land from native Americans and applaud the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act which gave a billion dollars and over 30 million acres to various native organizations in Alaska because their claims were legitimate. That is how you settle peacefully: you admit the original wrong. You negotiate a settlement. You vote on it. I work for one of those native organizations right now and I am really happy for them that they are wealthy. Unbelievably wealthy, because of taxes they are levying on the companies extracting oil from the largest oilfield on the continent.

Until you can do like me and admit the original wrong, there will be no chance at solving this like we solved our conflict over land with native Alaskans.

If the Alaska Natives had approached the problem by launching thousands of rockets into Anchorage and bombing buses in Juno they would not be sitting around getting "unbelievably wealthy" allowing companies to extract the natural resources from the land. They would be gone.

lol onmywayId - you are totally clueless. There were wars fought with the native Alaskans over centuries, with the Russians doing most of the killing. What the USA did that Israel refuses to do is grant the native Alaskans rights that allowed them to SUE IN COURT FOR DAMAGES. That's why they didn't need guerilla war.

So that's what they did. There were a whole slate of those lawsuits moving forward, which would have taken forever and interfered with economic development. So all sides negotiated a legislative settlement.

Let's see Israel do what they did for native Alaskans: grant the right to sue for property takings and civil rights violations. We're still chasing down thefts of Jewish property from the 1930's and the perpetrators of atrocities against them. The Palestinians deserve nothing less.

It's always blame the victim with you guys: perpetrate injustice and then blame the victims for fighting back.

Well really, the land was given by the British to the Israelis. Palestinians didn't own anything really. I don't recall who the British took it from..... The Ottoman's maybe?

That's exactly the rationale used in stealing the land the Indians were on: The Russians already stole it and the Indians took it from whoever had it before them.

So the court laughed in their faces and the first case on the docket the Supreme Court said: compensate for the takings.

All you people doing high-fives with OnMYwayID - none of you wants to see compensation for taking Palestinian lands. Unlike my view of native Alaskans as fully human just like me, the Palestinians are sub-humans to you. They don't deserve consideration for the injustice.

Well, I'm not unsympathetic to the Palestinians. The older parts of the world are hard to "claim" really. How many people have owned the land Israel sits on over the last ten thousand years? Wouldn't you have to go all the way back to the first guy that claimed it before someone else stole it from him? A simplistic way of putting it but you get the jist.

Who did the natives take the land from in Alaska? No one? C'mon......
