Hi,

I have pending n400 application and I moved in the same state and same county. I didthe address change form online. I called USCIS customer service to make sure the address has been updated on my application and i was told from the representative that nothing can be done since the update was done online. Any advices guys, what else do i need to do to make sure there are no delays and no lost mail.

Did you do BOTH parts of the change of address? The on-line part and the part for those with a pending application? If you did that and if moving did not mess up your 3 month residency requirement, you should be good to go. You could do a vacation hold for your name at the old address and go back and pick it up before the 30 days runs out and then re-issue the mailhold until you are done with Naturalization. This requires you to visit the postoffice to pickup the mail, but the hold can be done on-line or in person. Either that or do a forward mail request and when the USPS sends the item from the USCIS back, you should get a text or e-mail stating the item was returned by the USPS. I vote of the mailhold option as you are not relying on the USCIS to send the text or e-mail.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the advise. I think both steps are now part of one procedure because:

- both step one and two point to the same link;

- before you start the update you are being asked for pending applications. If you answer yes, you get optios for application type (n400 inmy case) and receipt number. Below this you get the regular questions for address change.

Is this what you mean?

I am not doing mail forwarding or vacation hold at this time because a friend of mine is staying at the old place and my name will stay on the mailbox.
