Anybody who has an idea if the 8-hour overlay with EvaAir in TPR is fair enough? Is Taipei airport a good one? Thinking of which airlines to go for while waiting for the visa issuance.

4/29 - I-129f Sent to TX Lockbox

4/30 - Received as per USPS tracking

5/5 - Received NOA1 thru txt and email

5/6 - Alien Registration Number Changed

5/9 - Received NOA1 by mail

5/12 - RFE

5/19 - Submitted docs for RFE

On long trips, like the one you are about to take, I try to avoid layovers more than 2-3 hours as it makes what is a long trip unbearable. Just my opinion.

I flew EVA air with a 4 hour layover in Taipei and it was tough. Good airline and nice airport, but the 4 hour wait seemed forever. Double that would drive me crazy. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend it.

Btw, you mentioned your visa wa issued 18th of July. You claimed it on the 22nd. Was it by choice though the courier got the visa earlier or was it because the courier got the visa by the 22nd?

We got a text from 2go that the visa was ready, so we just went the same day to pick it up.

Checkout the themed gates 1-5 (I believe concourse C). One of them has the Hello Kitty theme :) Take some pictures, get a stamp etc. This should help pass the time a little bit.

Oh that's cool :-)... And it's good that you are already together. Seems like we are stuck ciz of the glitch in US consulat services... Hoping to have our visas next week...

We are in Taiwan now, its not so bad and we saw the themed gates, some are really nice. There's also free wifi here so it also helps.

I love the airport in Taipei. I have flown with EVA Air for a very long time. Not to sure if 8-hour overlay is fair...but you can keep your self busy as they have tons of food and shops.

ive flown to and from MNL both times using EVA air and stoping in Taipei...long layovers but they have couches you can relax on near the gate areas bellow. EVA air was good service IMHO.

I hope they have really comfortable couches. 8 hour layover is just too long and tough no matter which airport you are in.
