Nobody in Switzerland runs around armed. Not only because it is not permitted but because the Swiss don't suffer from paranoia as much as is the case here in this country. It's simple, really.

Might be helpful that they have a ban on concealed carry in Switzerland, too. It just makes sense to any normal person not to have every paranoid yahoo run around with a firearm.
