Hi,

Im still confused about how the flowchart works.

I was wondering once I get the letter in the mail with a case number and a receipt saying the check was processed. That is considered my NOA1?

I checked the case status and it's been on initial review ever since I first got the receipt in mid May. I did have to call and make a change because they misspelled my fiancee's name on the receipt and so that delayed it some. Later I noticed they updated the case on July 1st but it still says initial review.

So is this the step that takes the longest? Is this where I am suppose to start gathering the information like the I-134, sending her a duplicate package of i-129f etc?

Then finally after months I will get the NOA2 and the case status should say approved by then right?

I'm just trying to get a sense of what I should be doing now that I got the case number and that they cashed the check for my I-129F.

Thanks!

Yes the NOA1 and NOA2 designations are unique to Visa Journey and for new people may be a bit confusing. NOA1 is the letter you get from USCIS that told you presumably that you were assigned to the texas service center. The longest time in this process is typically between that first letter and the next letter that tells you that your case is approved and sent to the National Visa Center for forwarding to the embassy. You filed the I-129F petition at the Texas lockbox. *IF* your letter indeed says that your case was assigned to the texas service center then you have a long wait (I'd guess 5 months or more before ANYTHING happens). Then if you are lucky they approve your application and don't send you an RFE (Request for Evidence) that would further delay this. I am very sorry for anyone who gets stuck apart from their loved one going thru this process.

-

You can begin collecting documents such as birth certificates etc. Anything where the information is not needed to be current. In my opinion starting work on the I-134 is just frustrating as you'll have to redo much of it to bring it current when the time comes, although reviewing subsequent steps is always good to make sure you don't his any insurmountable hurdles

Mine says my case was assigned to the California Service Center in Laguna Niguel, CA.

Do you know whats the difference between that one and the Texas Service Center? Is one faster than the other?

Thanks for the clarification on the process. I probably will have to wait a bit to start my I-134 because I'm starting new job soon as well. But I can at least start gathering other information. Then once I get the NOA2 I can send everything over to my fiancee.

Hi there,

Yes, you got your NOA1! You originally sent your I-129F petition to the Texas lockbox, this is not the same as the Texas Service Center.

Your petition has been forwarded to CSC which is the faster of the 2 service centers. Please update your timeline to say California Service Center (and it hasn't been transferred!) thanks! :content:

I see everyone has replied in this thread the answer you want. I thought i might give you a little lesson on flowcharting to understand the process yourself. Flowcharts are all about the flow. Whatever represented in a flowchart are about a flow (here visa process flow). There should be a starting point and a ending point. As the flow go, decisions are needed to be taken. They are represented by diamond shapes. processeors need to be carried out are represented by rectangle shapes. Here are a guide about flowchart symbols you can read here

:D

I don't think she is talking about general flowchart shapes and concepts,

I think she is referring to the K1 visa process flow, which is basically

sequential steps.

Thanks!

The first letter you receive is NOA1, and if all goes well,

in few months you should receive a second one, which is NOA2.

The web site status will remain that was for a long long time,

and in my case, I saw my approval first on their web site...

about 7 to 10 days later, I actually received the letter.

By the way its called NOA ... because the letter they send you

is labeled Notice of Action. And since you normally receive two

it's called NOA1 and NOA2 for short.

Good luck in your journey.

Just checked the status on the USCIS page for fun and noticed that yesterday it was approved! So now I should be getting the NOA2 letter soon! Crazy! So exciting! I thought it was gonna take at least a couple more months. :)

Does anyone know whats the threshold is for how much money you should have in the bank? I just got a new job that pays a lot better than my last one so I'm just starting now to get more money in. But I wonder if it matters how much I have right now in it since I'll be stating how much I will make annually anyway.
