I-751 pending for 11 months and now transferred to local office

My I-751 was filed with Vermont service center last year in August. I got two notices in Sept or Oct. One said my petition was transferred to another service center and the other said it was transferred to a local office. They didn't say to which service center or which local office.

I haven't received anything thereafter. I contacted USCIS a few times and they couldn't figure out where my case was. Until today, I got an email from NCS saying my case was transferred to the local office in my city yesterday and I should wait 21 days for the transfer of the file. Does it mean they will definitely schedule an interview for me ? i hear there might be home visits too. Does it usually happen before the interview or after? I'm so worried now and the process is taking forever. What kind of questions do they ask during the interview? Is the denial rate for the petitions which are scheduled for interview pretty high?

Thanks. Does this mean they think my marriage is suspicious? have you heard anyone been visited by officer at home?

It doesn't mean anything other than it's happening. They randomly give interviews for otherwise-approvable I-751s to help IOs spot fraud marriages (which means they need good cases to look at as well as bad).

Provided you have evidence of a good faith marriage during the lifetime of the marriage, you should be approved.

I recall reading an article written by an immigration officer saying that they can visit at home, but they have to give notice, so they didn't feel it was very worthwhile. Absent the surprise element, they weren't going to find much of value.

Why it would be pending for 11 months is curious. Someone might have just dropped the ball.

You'll probably have an interview, yes, but if your case is sound I wouldn't worry.

Because I checked online and some article said once the case gets transferred to a local office, it might process for a few years since the local office doesnt take transferred case as priority.

I and my husband have joint accounts, insurance, cars and everything. But his business needs him to leave home around 3am and drive out of town at least 3 days per week in peak season. But I saw some petitioners saying that some investigators would call in the morning or visit the home really early to check if you are both home.

I'm pretty sure the officer wouldn't be freaked out that your husband wasn't at home. More likely, they want to poke around and see that you share a room and bed (or have proof he's an awful snorer!), have 'shared' things in your domicile, and have the aura of a happy co-habiting couple. They might be the USCIS, but to some extent they understand that being married doesn't mean being housebound 24/7.

Vermont Center received my I-751 On 10/02/2013.I got I-797c notices in november 2013, my petition was transferred to California service center, 2floor bla blaa .

I did my finger prints in jan 2014.

As of today, 8/8/2014, online status is still under "Initial Review".

Is this normal speed? is normal?

Normal processing time is 6 months. If you had exceeded that you can contact them and they should give you a status update.

It wouldn't hurt to make an InfoPass appointment and go in and talk to them. They should be able to see the status of your case and have more information than you will get on the phone and certainly more than you will get online.
