Speaking on behalf of my husband, he intends to seek citizenship here in the States and retaining his Canadian citizenship...that way he'll always be flying home. :)

To retain Canuck citizenship is simple: "once a Canuck, always a Canuck--unless you fork out about C$400 and fill a form to renounce"

Duel citizenship for me, without a doubt. If I can't have both, I shall remain British.

This too has been covered before, similar to Canuck duality.

everybody here assumes that I will of course apply for my American Citizenship, including my husband and his family. They were shocked when I told them I hadn't decided yet and that I was leaning more towards no!

Definitely yes. Dual citizenship. My wife and I want to live in England for a few years at some point (so she can see where I come from and have a better understanding of my culture andd customs) so I will need to have moved beyond a green card which i would lose if i spent 5 yearsss outside the USA.

10/02/2006 - Fly to New York, EAD at JFK, I'm in!!

C. will retain his Canadian citizenship, too, and if we move there, I'll get mine, so we don't EVER EVER EVER HAVE TO FILE PAPER WORK TO MOVE.

Hi Everyone!

Yes, I will definately apply for US Citizenship as soon as I am able too. And based on the timeline, that would probably be sometime in 2009. I love the USA and my family here in the USA, so what better way to celebrate than to become a US Citizen?

As well, I will keep my Canadian Citizenship, as it is too complicated to renounce it. After all, "once a citizen of Canada, always a citizen of Canada". So yes, I am looking forward to becoming a 'Dual US American/Canadian Citizen" soon!

For extra fun, I can also add the country I was born in (no, not Canada) too. However, that country does not recognize dual/triple citizenship, I have not been back there since I immigrated to Canada as a child, and I have no emotional and/or family ties to that country. That is also not my country of citizenship, as I have not claimed citizenship there either since I left.

Lol.. having several countries listed that I lived in sure does complicate immigration matters!

For now I think I just need to settle down here in the USA and focus on becoming a Citizen here later....

Dec 25th -She purposed and i said Yes!
May 10th I-130 Packet and Packet 3 sent off to me by the U.S. Consulate
May 16th -Received Packets 1-3 from the U.S. consulate
June 29th -I arrived in Puerto-Rico!
July 2nd -Married in Mayaguez, Puerto-Rico and also got our interview date for September 6th
August 17th -We arrived in Australia to file for Sep. 6th
September 6th - Filed DCF in Sydney and approved 1 hour later!
September 12 -Received my passport with the visa and yellow packet
November 24th -POE.......Guam,USA
December 12, 2005-Green Card arrived in the mail
September 11, 2007 -Filed I-751 on conditions
September 17 -VSC Receives my I-751 and issues NOA1
Oct 10 -Had biometrics taken in San Juan, Puerto Rico ASC
Oct 12 -Touched.
Aug 21, 2008 -Approved!...........finally
