Good answers and thank you to each, keep it away from previous thread. I dont smoke or drink either but Ahmed does both, does not drink like a drunk, but still will have a drink. Just because i dont i wont down someone that does either, but might question how they can choose to do that over another teaching but i do know in the end will be a personal thing. Just curious to others thinkings

I think the thing is... most people don't look at other religions as a checklist of rules, but this often happens with Islam, and it is the outward signs that are often focused on, drinking, smoking, hijab, etc. I feel faith is a personal relationship with God, and as we each of us are different, there will be different things that strengthen or weaken that relationship for us. For me, hijab carries no weight in how I feel, but charity does. I feel strongest in my faith when I am giving, when I am reaching out to the "fringes" of society. For someone else it could hijab because of the struggles/submission that entails. I think if we look at it as a list of rules than it is easy to wonder how we pick and choose (and for some it actually is how they practice), but I think for many it is a work in progress and it is something that can change with time.

Thank you.... I keep thinking positive. God has reasons for everything. I try not to let things get to me.

In summery:

My mom Used my bank account while I was in Jordan to pay for car payments.

My daughter was suppose to pay my bills for me but didnt so I am behind three months.

I gave my daughter all my extra money to pay her bills.

I dont have a job yet so no money comming in but child support.

My daughter moved in with me 18, her husband and baby too. All in a three bedroom small house.

I was pregnant that is why I came back to the USA from Jordan.

I lost the baby.

My mom tried to take me to court to get custody of my children as she didnt want me to take them to Jordan.

Since she lost that, she got intouch with my bipolar ex husband and tried to get him to take me to court (he who has supervised visitations and he hasnt seen the girls in a year or so)

I have interviewd and tested for ONE job four times and have to go in tomorrow and monday for final tests and interview.

I dont have a car but I did buy my daughter a car before I left, but someone smashed out her window and she doesnt have insurance on it...

I have a 13 yr old with a attitude from hades. She is a red head so should I say more?

I have a 11 yr old who cried because she had to take pubic busses to school and she was terrified to go alone.

I have shut off notices from Electric and Gas and the phone charge to start phone service is 300.00. but you have to have a phone to get a job right?

I had the flu, then pneumonia.

I am now on antidepressants but I cant sleep from them

My best friend brought me groceries and gave me 100.00

My husbands bil died and he has to take care of his sister and her three kids on top of another divorced sister and a sister who has cerebral palsy. He is working so much

DH had a heart attack due to stress and highblood pressure.

My house needs a good cleaning and with three girls living here well four with me, it should be spotless. I cant do it all!

I have a yeast infection...sigh!

I miss my husband

The prude patrol is awake and I am ashamed of what I am reading here. The OP was down and out last night and the LAST thing she needed was to see her thread turn into this.

This thread accomplished one thing. It totally separated the members with class from the lowlifes.

What is so shameful here? Is no one allowed to comment on posts they disagree with or find disgusting? You tell me who the patrol is because I thought we were allowed to say whatever we want last time I checked.

Another thing is that this discussion has nothing to do with doodle. She is not feeling well I think we all know that. Why does that mean we can't hold our own discussions and debates? When I'm not feeling well I would never expect people to walk on eggshells around me or not to go off topic in one of my threads. It happens all of the time. That's nice of you to try to protect Doodle but no one is even talking about her here and I think she knows that this discussion has nothing to do with her. Who is patrolling this thread? The ones having an open discussion or the ones saying leave Doodle alone she doesn't feel well and how much of a disgrace it is to see this thread has gone off topic.

You constantly say you stay out of the drama on VJ however you always post right in the middle of it. What makes you different than any of the other members?

It will never cease to amaze me how people can read into posts what they want. No one here had a problem with the talk of sex toys as much as they had a problem with the contradictory behaviors and thoughts that run rampant in MENA. Anyone who is in MENA on a regular basis and bothers to take the time to understand what they are reading and the dynamics at play here know exactly to what I am referring.

If anyone thinks jokes about sex toys are inappropriate they so not have to post (as I amsure several did) and if you think jokes about sex toys are amusing, then knock youself out. Im just curious to hear opinions, i dont want judgements or name calling and i dont want this to be 50 pages of you said, he said, why did you say,

As an aside, we don't go around passing judgements on those who do. However, if I read someone on here calling someone out for drinking or smoking and then go on to talk about what they do that is out of line with their religion (by definitions they themselves have given), I would probably speak up. My speaking up would be about their hypocrisy and not whatever behavior they are engaging in. I probably do several things I feel are not what I should be doing in a single day, so I try not to be critical of how others are are handling their faith; however, when someone calls others out saying it clear, easy, the behavior is indulgent etc, and then goes on to make an exception for themself, it proves it isn't always so clear or easy and nearly everyone indulges in something or other.

There is plenty of hypocrisy coming from those who are pointing fingers.

Since you said what class is in this thread I agree with you fully.

You don't have to explain yourself I just responded to your post but I should have added Jean's post in with it. This board is fully functional even if one member isn't feeling well. I would never expect the drama to stop just because I was upset.
