Straw purchasers are often the friends, relatives, spouses or girlfriends of prohibited purchasers. The two Columbine High School shooters recruited friends to buy guns for them at Colorado gun shows. One of the buyers admitted she would not have bought the guns if she had been required to submit to a background check.
• Gun Shows and private gun sales: Gun shows have been called “Tupperware parties for criminals” because they attract large numbers of prohibited buyers. A loophole in federal law allows unlicensed or “private” sellers, many of whom work out of gun shows, to lawfully sell or transfer guns without conducting a criminal background check. Gun show dealers have been known to advertise to criminals with signs that read “no background checks required here.”

Here's the kicker. Having more guns in those areas aren't the answer. Children are being killed. We're talking stray bullets, not encounters where a gun might deter such violence. Folks are being shot taking out the trash, selling lemonade, or even inside the house sitting on a couch. How does more guns help in those situations?

The purchase is considered to be a lawful one until the gun changes hands illegaly. So yes the gun is being purchased legally.

Yet, they don't search the criminals. They search the black kids going to and from school, and in some cases, the guys going to work and back. It fails because since they only target black males, you can give the gun to your girlfriend, since they never check black females.

If you've lived in a bad neighborhood, you know who's doing dirt and what not. It's not complicated. Their parameters are young black male with saggy pants and Jordans on. Get the dudes hanging out on the corner at 2am. But there's not a cop car in sight. I drive through that area at least once a week. The police presence is a joke.

Last Friday, I saw a guy pull his car over, push a young lady out and proceed to beat her like a man. If I hadn't honked my horn and made a U turn to drive in his direction, he might have killed her. This was in broad daylight.
