K3's are filed at the Chicago lockbox, and as you are from Texas yours would be transferred to California. This is now standard procedure, but you still have to file it with Chicago.

I wrote to my congressman and senator because I live in Vermont and this hppened to me also! Talk about freaked out! I received a letter from the senator's office with an attached letter explaining this process as normal. I thought it would slow things down when in actuality it sped things up! Nothing to worry about! I didn't know about this forum at the time it would've been a great resource!

My K3 was also sent to California, my wife is from Texas. It's no big deal where they send it though. I was told that they often send applications to the office with the least back-log, at present this is Califoria but it could change..

Then again, it's difficult to believe anything you're told by USCIS. Seriously though you don't have anything to worry about and it's good news as it means you're being processes.

All I-129's are first sent to Chicago. From there ours was transferred to Missouri and then to California. However, which service center yours is forwarded to has nothing to do with which office has the largest backlog. I wish it was the case because the VSC is processing applications about 3x quicker than the CSC. As far as I know only Vermont and California are processing I-129's now and which one processes your petition is only based on where you live in the US. You can see in my sig the transfers for our I-129 and I-130.
