We have our interview next month and my spouse had a J1 for high school. He cannot find his ds-2019 form and the agency CIEE only keeps it so many years and we are past that. A few months ago when I had even more anxiety about this I found a way to do an online chat with CIEE who said they didn't keep the ds-2019 after all of this time but they couldn't see how he would have been subject because they were not aware of any government funding for high school from south america. He came here for about 10 months for high school and his parents paid around $5000 in addition to monthly money for him during that time. He is 99% sure he didn't get any money from the US government or his local government. But, still I worry because all we have is the J1 Visa that says "Bearer is NOT subject to 212(E)", which I know is a good start but I have heard the IO can say "prove it". Since having the j1 he has had two f1s and has never fallen out of status, etc.

Anyone been in a similar situation? I know the skills list wouldn't come into play for a high school student, just idea of a problem stresses me out. We didn't get any RFE's during the filing process.

Thanks for any guidance. I just tend to worry about every little detail. He's finishing school up and is done in august and we will be living together full time as opposed to 4 days out of the week so I know that will be a question about our different addresses but I feel like we have a good explanation and have lots of documentation (finances, family, power of attorneys, etc.)

Thank you!
