Brazil: March Interview?

Hi Everyone from Brazil! :)

My fiance mailed out his packet 3 last week and Rio finally responded today that it was received. I've been dying to know when our interview is, but they only told me this in an e-mail:

Dear Sir or Madam:

The packet was received. Unfortunately our agenda for the month of February is fully booked. As soon as his interview is scheduled we will notify him through mail.

Regards,

IV Unit

I don't think it will help to call today, so should I call next week? The problem is that my fiance never received packet 3 and I don't want to wait for 4 which may never come. Will they tell me in an e-mail? We have to buy tickets and marcar a consulta com o medico ainda.

Advice?

Thanks!

Schedule the doctor but don't buy the tickets yet...

and there is no other way they will let you know about the date other than those...

Wait 1 more week and either call or send an e-mail.. for me it worked with just an e-mail.

Good luck !!

He will receive the packets, don't worry. If you already sent an e-mail maybe wait one day and try to call. If they already received the packet he can schedule the doctor, you never know when the interview will be. Mine was supposed to be oct 10 and they re-scheduled to oct 2, it's better to be prepared. Good luck!

The problem is that we need an interview date to schedule the doctor because Eliton lives in Manaus. He was going to schedule the date 2 days before the interview.

Is it worth it to schedule the consulta and then reschedule? Seems pointless to me.

I won't buy tickets until I know.

I'll e-mail/call next week then.

I'm going to Brasil so we have to coordinate our plans - that's another reason why I want to know. But I won't stress too much because I have at least 6 weeks, neh?

What he could do is call the doctor to have an idea on how busy the doctor is, if it's easy to schedule an appointment. I did that, I called the doctor in Curitiba way prior I knew the interview date, just to have an idea if I needed to shcedule like the next day if it would be possible. Some doctors are busy and you need to schedule 2 weeks, a month, some even 6 months prior. So call and have an idea on how long before the appointment he can schedule, maybe explain the case. Is he going to schedule with a doctor in Rio?

I've been e-mailing the doctor (Aurelio) with questions for awhile now. He told us about getting the blood tests and x-ray done in Manaus. Eliton has all of that done. So now we have to schedule an apt.

When I asked him if we can have the consulta - I asked if it can it be 2 days before, he said yes, so I think that is a good sign. I have his secretary's number so one of us can call her. He said he'll be out in January for 10 days but other than that he'll be ok to see us.

I'm sure he knows that we don't have too much time to schedule the apt. Aurelio seems to be a great guy.

Thanks for the tips!

ps: Is Rio 2 or 3 hours ahead of EST?

Our experience:

We never received either packet 3 or 4.

We were not notified of the interview date.

We just happened to email the consulate on Thursday and ask them if they had sent our information out and they emailed back immediately that our appt was scheduled for the following Tuesday. surprise...first we knew of it.

As our daughter in law lived in Roraima we had to arrange plane tickets, hotel and dr appointment asap. We were able to do this. The doctor was very accommodating. Our daughter in law (from Boa Vista) and our son (from Los Angeles) both arrived in Rio on Sunday. She had the Dr. appt on Monday and the interview on Tuesday.

Our lawyer said that we could ask to reschedule the appt. but that probably we would not get any more notice for a rescheduled second appt than we got the first time so we should try and make it if at all possible...so we did.

Good Luck....our experience with Rio was not positive...

I thought it was 3 hours - Manaus is only one for now.

I called the doctor's office but Dr. Aurelio did say he'd be out during the end of January and I got an answering machine, so I assume no one is there. Must be his private office.

Well, thanks again for the advice. Hope to have good news soon. I do plan on calling/e-mailing them until they get sick of us. At least I know our interview won't be until March - again, that gives us some time.

A friend of mine just found out her interview was scheduled for 2 weeks from now. She asked for it to be pushed back - they are not at all prepared.

Eliton and I are almost ready.
