Some phone texting options: if you both have iPhones, then use iMessage. otherwise, there is whatsapp, viber, google hangouts, skype allows for texting, and of course, Facebook messenger. ALL of these can be used on your phone.

We understand better than your local friends and family because we are going through the same exact process you are. Some timelines are shorter, some longer, but we are all separated from the one we love for some length of time.

Here are the embassy reviews from VJ members for Turkey: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Turkey

This will give you personal insight from other people who've gone through this country and how their process went.

Many people may not like my tough love and toughen up attitude, but when it does help and motivate someone than that is what we love to hear. Honestly I have felt pretty sad and "lost" and this journey has effected my work, etc life here, but that is how I learned to grow skin of steel. Everytime we move further in this Journey together I still get that "giddy" feeling haha. Trust me you still have plenty of those moments to look forward to. Right now it WILL suck, but your already on that train and your moving. Like everyone says, each day really does make a difference and gets you a day closer. Sure it may seem like your month has made no progress, but tsc is doing something no matter what it is. So the main thing is just keep communicating with each other and just have lots of fun conversations together online. My fiance and I vid chat a lot. We will watch movies or we will both play our guitar. We make it fun lol. Once again we know you are going to continue and get it done!

One more thing. The hardest part is to get started and you have already done that. Now make it easier for yourself and finish this up :)

Butterfly 123,

johnim, agrees with me 100%.,.,.please, sit down and list the pluses on one side of the papwe, and the negatives on the other side, from what you have said, the only negative, is waiting 2-3 months on TSC.,.,.,going to Europe has many, and some are major, as you have been very open, and very well written.,.,,.

2-3 months, vs. no job, no income, leaving your parents at a time they "might" need you.,.I could go on and on.,.,.there is so much pressure on TSC, from congressmen, and the average person, something will happen there very soon, I look for many expidited cases, to start happening,.,.,.,.,"hang in there".,.,.you will regret, leaving your K-1 behind! Think long, and hard, you can do this!

His grandparents are in Belgium and they are older...I am afraid if he doesn't go and work on his citizenship now he will lose it forever, because the people who can testify for him will be gone. So, that is my main reason for wanting him to go and do it now. He doesn't know what the process will be like, but we know it is supposed to take about a year.

His mom was Belgian, his father Algerian, but she died when they were all teenagers. They never knew any life but Belgium until they lost her...

Do you know anything about the process of getting Belgian citizenship back? Do you need lawyers, is it expensive, etc?

I wish he had his Belgian citizenship, because people in my life are prejudiced against him because of his Alg nationality, it makes things that much harder.

I really do wish him good luck on getting the belgian antionality back but to be honest I personally don't think it will be that easy.. I don't know how he became belgian, at what age and for how long but i know that since i wasn't born belgian (became belgian after my parents mariage, a year after my birth) i have been belgian for pretty much all my life and yet i could lose belgian my nationality if by the age of 28 i don't sign a document testifying that i want to keep my belgian nationality. This doesnt apply to people who were born in Belgium and other things. However, your fiancé's main nationality seems to always have been algerian.. In Belgium they tend to be strict with Africans.. North Africa & central africa. I know africans who have never received it even if their step father was belgian, raised them and even if they lived in europe for over 10years.. They re strict :/ if for me it would be hard to get my belgian nationality back it would be as hard for him if not more .. And then you will have to go through a visa for america again...

No, he was born in Belgium, of a Belgian mother. His main -and only- nationality was Belgian until he was 12 or 13, when his mother died.

There was a window a few years when Belgium did not allow dual citizenship. That's no longer the case, but it was when his family moved to Algeria.

He is no more African than he is Belgian, he is really equally rooted in both.

My fiance did not want to do the visa...he didn't have any hope in the 'system'. And, he dragged his feet because it's always been an issue between us that he thinks I (or my family) will suspect him of wanting a visa to US...he is very sensitive about that. He always wanted us to go to Europe and he never wanted USA, he is doing it for me.

I knew it would take a long time, but I just dove in and started it anyway. I just didn't know what else to do. And, in 'those days', TSC seemed to be clipping along pretty well so I thought we would be lucky. Then it came to a halt and that's what's pushed me over the edge.

Have you and your fiance talked about these issues? It sounds like he was reluctant to start the process in the first place, so his reluctance might be adding another level of stress to the process.

I feel for you. This journey takes a whole lot of strength and patience and will frustrate you every step of the way, but in the end it is SO worth it.

I'm sending good thoughts your way and hopefully it will be a short wait for your approval from Texas.

Stay strong. :D
