What ways can we prove that we plan to establish residence back in the US? (We live together in France)

We've been living together in France for 6 years and basically don't have any connection to the US beside my family and a US bank account. I'm self-employed and can work from anywhere (so don't have a job offer in the US), we plan on staying with my parents in the US while looking for a place to rent after we arrive (so can't show a rent agreement beforehand). I'm not sure what else I can show/do besides a letter from my family saying we do indeed plan on coming back. I suppose we can start shipping some of our stuff before the move and show receipts for shipments? But I'd hate to do that not knowing for sure we'll be approved.

Would love to know any ideas you have for me of things I can prepare to help prove this!

Hi there,

You can also include shipping quotes and voting records or a current voter registration. One thing that apparently helps is if you can show you will relinquish your foreign residency, so if, like me, you have a carte de séjour that will expire, that is good proof of your plan to return to the US. If you receive mail at your parents' house, you can also include that as proof of having a permanent mailing address in the US.

I would get the letter from your parents notarized.

Good luck!
