Truthfully now, can anyone believe George Bush?

What's the point of trying to relativise the performance of a sitting president by comparing him with the previous one?

Clearly no-one learns from the mistakes of the past and continues to elect these (corrupt/incompetant) idiots into high office

The problem is that by the time they get to that level of power, they're corrupt. Even those that start out with the best of intentions - to do good - have to do favors for certain lobbyists in order to get help on the issues that matter to them. It's all a game.

so vote them out always, get a fresh crop in - and the incumbent won't get a big retirement check :P

I think they're already corrupt, considering its near impossible (no it IS impossible) to become President of the United States without being heavily involved in corporate america, whose lobbyists are predominantly what drives government policy.
