It can take about 30 days for uscis to send you a notification, but normally it's between 2-3 weeks from when they received it. The next indicator is when your check is cashed, so just watch out for that.

Welcome to VJ! Your first indicator is that your check will be cashed. Your will receive your Notice of Action with more information, and it is called NOA1 because it is your initial one until you receive a decision on your petition.

Check out the Caribbean Section for information and to post questions to other Jamaican applicants.

Also check out the Jamaican Portal for information about our embassy and to read others reviews of their embassy interview.

Hello all, I am at the very beginning stages of filing for k1 visa for my fiance and my step daughter. i am torn between going thru rapid visa and doing it myself as I am nervous not to make any mistakes for denials. Is it worth paying the money, or is this something that can be done myself Is there anything else I need to download other than the I-129F? and do I have to attach the biographic form, and affidavit of support?

What all needs to be with the initial form sent.

Sorry in advance, as I will be asking alot of questions and help from you all that have gone past this process already.

There is plenty more than just the I-129F form alone. The I-129F instructions and this guide list everything required > http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

Yes, you both need G-325A biographic forms, among other things. No to the affidavit of support with the I-129F petition. That comes later for the K-1 visa interview.

Most people here on VJ do it themselves and ask questions here if they get stuck on something. Look through the instructions, the guide, and the forms and decide for yourself if you believe you can handle doing it all on your own.

Let us know how long it takes to get your NOA1. That will be the first communication with the USCIS.

Hopefully you will get the Notification real soon. For our case it took 9 days to receive our first Notification through email and 13 days to get it in the mail! The timelines I have seen usually got the NOA1 a lot sooner.
