Lol. Way to pay attention. Did you notice it was the first non-pilot to ever be promoted to such a position? The reason it has been pilots in the past is because - think hard now - they are in charge of operational decisions for fighter pilots in combat. It is generally understood that having been a pilot gives you an understanding about the things you are requiring of your pilots.

Instead of telling us that she was chosen because of her career skills in directing combat operations for air force wings, this is what we get:

I doubt anyone would take issue with a rated combat pilot who was a female taking charge of an air wing. The whole point is that she is "qualified" in the PC armed forces because she is a woman.

Exactly and that is the only reason. What has always separated the military from all the other Govt run failures, was you had to perform and earn respect "usually" to advance. Not the case anymore. Congrats our military will soon function like the VA, which is full of people that could not survive in the real world.

Again you are making assumptions. Operational decisions have nothing to do with telling pilots how to fly their planes, which is what you are suggesting. I now understand where your misunderstanding originates.

You need not know how the internal combiustion engine works, nor must you be a seasoned driver to understand that you should not try to drive a car under water and, to avoid Lex or 5th during rush hour. The only thing you need to know is how to choose the appropriate vehicle for the task at hand.

Again, there is nothing concrete that would suggest she is not qualified for the position, but I concede that for outsiders it must look so. No harm done.

i am dumb founded by the logic or lack rather lack there of . Knowing you should not fly an airplane into the side of a mountain is simple. Making sure it does not happen requires skill.

Who needs to understand how an f-15 would fare against a Mig 29, or which altitude would favor which. Just pick one and get on with it. G force, force multipliers, pressure altitudes, fuel payloads, weapons characteristics, bahhhha who needs that #######

She.is a woman who looks like a man nominated under the Obama watch. Clearly she is qualified for nothing but flees stuff. No evidence of her unsuiability is required. The facts are staring us in the face.

If you really want to get down to business, this woman's specialty makes a lot more sense than a pilot. She's a planner and commanders need to be strategic rather than tactical. Maybe Obama does know what he's doing!

I'm a pilot. There was a lot I was tested on that goes far beyond coordinating rudder and ailerons - the physics of lift, how all of the instruments work (not just how to read them and what they mean, but the mechanics), weather - all kinds of stuff that under your stupid analogy don't matter to being a pilot. But they not only matter, by law, but they DEFINITELY matter to someone sending pilots into combat conditions. Don't be patronizing of someone who has a lot more experience than you do and pretend I "misunderstand" and am an "outsider" - as if you, with zero piloting experience, are on the "inside".

The history proves how wrong you are: that piloting experience was required before picking a woman because she was a woman became important.

I catered my analogy to the audience and your response confirms it was apropriate. Kudos for your apparent familiarity with general aviation and small planes. Build upon it. After all is said and done however, there is still no evidence she is not qualified for the job.

The only evidence that she is not is of the 'she can't be, she's a woman and women can only be appointed to anything important if they are given a free pass with affirmative action' variety. That's not exactly compelling but I am sure if you are of the persuasion that it's a self evident truth, it doesn't need to be, clearly.
