So I thought that sending via Fedex was too expensive, so I used this company that delivers to all of eastern Europe, and mailed off all the papers my Fiancee needs for his interview on 1-25-07. I sent them on 1-3 and thought that 3 weeks was plenty of time... guess what, they are not there yet, even though they should have been.

My question is that what happens if they dont get to my fiance in time for the interview. I have copies of everything I sent and can email them to him to print & take to interview. Since the I-134 was notarized, will the Consulate accept a copy of it? Along with a copy of the letter from my employer & bank?

Will they accept a copy of the I-134 & supporting info? Or should we reschedule the interview and start on paperwork again?

Help, I'm freaking out!

I don't have your answers.... but I have a question...Was this DHL ?? because I was going to use them

Also did you put your SO's phone number on it... the reason I ask is because in my SO's country they don't deliever to her town...So she has to go to the capitol which is the next largest city... to pick up packages I've sent.. Maybe she needs to call DHL if that is who you used... or you can track it online... to see where it's at... It might be setting in the next largest city to where she is at.. ..Just some idea's

Nope, I used a company called Polamer, it delivers to Poland, Latvia, Luthuania, Ukraine, Russia and some other countries in that region.

I haven't used DHL to tell you how it is. But at this rate, sending express through the USPS would have been quicker.

I tried checking the package, but all it says is that it left the airport, which airport where & when is not provided :(

I would think that they need the actual notarized original of the I-134. Honestly, I would get it notarized again, and FedEx - it will get there in 2 days. Worth the money for peace of mind. Good luck!

If I get a new notarized copy, will it be ok that the supporting info (from bank & employer) will be copies and not originals?

Honestly, I wouldn't bet on it. If you can get them again, do it. But send everything as soon as you can, in time for the interview. If you can't get, say, the bank statement in time, and they ask for it at the interview, your fiance may just have to provide it to them once he receives it before he gets the visa.

Nanusia & Lukaszek,

I would not reschedule the interview, expecially if there is a long backlog for interviews at your fiance's consulate.

I would fax over a copy of the I-134 and some of the other important financial documentation, such as employer's letter and pay stubs assuming that your sponsorship relies on income from employment. Then I would expect your fiance to be given a 221(g) requesting the proper financial documentation, which he will take to the consulate as soon as he receives it.

If your trust in this company is failing as a result of this experience, I would also put together a new financial package that your fiance can submit in response to the 221(g), and I would send it to your fiance by a more reliable and speedy means.

Thanks for the info Yodrak! I appreciate it. With the 221(g) does that mean that the visa will be approved, provided the missing financial document is delivered? With a 221 does my fiancee have to schedule another appointment, or just come with the missing paperwork and wait the 1-2 days for visa to be delivered to his house?

Nanusia & Lukaszek,

221(g) means that the visa application cannot be approved, for any number of possible reasons. In this case one reason is that more documentation is needed to address the public charge issue. There may be other issues with your fiance's case, I have no way of knowing. But if there are not, and the financial documentation that you have prepared for the case is found to be adequate, then the visa should be approved after the material has been submitted and reviewed.

I do not know the procedure for submitting material to your fiance's consulate.

Nor do I know how quickly the material will make its' way to the case officer after it is submitted, or how quickly the case officer will return to the case to complete it once they have the material. Could be days, could be weeks.

Could possible involve another interview, or a letter to you, if the case officer has any questions after reviewing the material - which would also be the case if the material gets to your fiance in time for the interview.

Ok, I think I'm going to start praying it gets there on time, because this 221g route seems scarier than just having the interview rescheduled.

Do you know if rescheduling is viewed badly upon them? Will the consulate be more skeptical or go into detail since my fiancee wouldnt be able to attend the first one?

Nancy,

How so?

Yodrak

.....

Yodrak,

I think the time to reschedule for Warsaw is 2-3 weeks. And the way you described the 221g scenario, it seems it could take more time, and create red-tape that is unnecessary. I dont want to create any red flags with them, all the paperwork is good, just taking a little longer to get there.

If they started sending letters to me to verify info he submitts weeks later, and then wait for my reply, and wait for them to look at the papers again, this could take additional months. After all this waiting the 129F would expire, and I'd have more paper work.

:(
