i think that was the point. but you know, insinuating.

Yeah obviously living in a ghetto with no sense of national identity because another country stole your land is only something that muslims would be angry about.

I guess nobody better mention Northern Ireland ;-)

The other poster's point was basically that the US has a Pro-Israel bias.

The response to that, which I responded to, appeared to be suggesting that if it were Christians or whatever living in Gaza that they would have no need to fire rockets because only the 'nasty' muslims do that kind of thing.

Of course. I stand corrected. Of course they wouldn't.

No way they would shoot rockets into civilian areas like those nasty people who "hide behind civilians" in their own homes. We hear about the rockets and terrorists there but they must be invisible because there sure aren't any on film.

"What we try and do is we try to tell civilians to leave the house so that we can try and get rid of these missiles that are a threat to our children. We’re trying to save their children and our children while Hamas’s owns spokesperson is telling people not to leave the houses."

How stupid is that? Jewish missiles are "humanitarian", Gaza missiles are "a threat to children"

The dispute is nationalist, not religious. Whatever you feel about the parties involved.

I'm making fun of the religious aspect. Kindly note earlier remarks about territory and natural gas.

As I said, the dispute is nationalist, not religious. If Christians or whoever were living there, with that history and under those conditions they would still be trying to kill Israelis.

I grew up when the IRA were putting bombs in rubbish bins in UK town centres, it was a strange time. The thugs doing the bombing were reprehensible, but I totally understand where the anger came from. The British Government did a lot of bad things in Ireland back in the day.

That is exactly right. However, the Israeli govt. labels the other side as Islamic terrorists every chance they get. They know how to play the media, and the media (especially the U.S. media) falls for it every time. This is simply the Israeli govt. oppressing people and then when they get called on it raising their hands and saying "wait, we removed our settlements from Gaza years ago" When the reality is that they've blockaded the place since the settlers were removed. They've held up customs payments etc. etc. They've done everything they could possibly do to make sure that the govt. can not function. That said, it does not justify Hamas firing rockets indiscriminately in to civilian areas.

I found the earlier reference about how when the Israelis abandoned the settlements left, they were nice enough the leave some green houses behind, pretty funny. What a humanitarian move.

I'm not sure you can say it's justified, but I understand why people be so angry that they would want to.

OUR country is fundamentally founded on the principle of the right to defend oneself and one's personal property. How then is this any different? Israel is not "defending" itself. They are aggressively expanding and have been doing this for a long time while at the same time convincing themselves and trying to convince the rest of the world that they are "expanding in self-defense".

At what point is defense for the "expandees" justified? Either our principles apply to others or not. It is hypocritical for us as Americans to apply one set to ourselves and a different set to others.

Nice trade - a few greenhouses for all those natural gas reserves
