Hello,

My dad, a US Citizen, had petitioned for his sister, her husband, and their 4 children a while back. The entire process for their visas was going well until the US Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan sent their IV packages to them. There were some misunderstandings that caused more than 1 year of time to pass. They have still not paid their fees and it has been a few years since then.

My question is this. Does my dad have to re-petition for his sister and her family, or is there a way to revive the old case. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Please let me know exactly what our options are and what we need to do. Thank you.

hi

unless an attorney can reopen the case, he would have to start all over again, since the petition was considered abandoned and closed after one year

Thanks for the information. What are the chances of an attorney being able to successfully get an abandoned case reopened? Is it even worth trying out?
