Pasties for me, I'm really craving them at the moment! Not greggs or ginsters ####### proper pasties. Am going to have a go at making them myself once the weather drops below 30C!

You had to go there, didn't you. :(

Best pasties i ever had came from a stand at Victoria Station. I used to catch the train into London for project meetings every week and always made time for a piping hot pastie.

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

Took me about a day. I'd been coming here regularly for the last 12 years and always saw myself as a frustrated yank to be honest. There's still stuff I find weird here, but I consider California my home and at this point in time, I don't envision a return to the UK. Been here about 18 months by the way. That being said, those 12 weeks or so where I couldn't drive legally or work were tough.

What exactly do people think of when they think of a pastie?

Are we talking of a Cornish Pastie with a pastry case filled with potato, veg and meat?

Or something you will find in a chip shop in Scotland and Northern Ireland which is more potato, onion and spices (very little meat) made into a patty, battered then deep fried ?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pastie

Either by the way are completely acceptable to me and need to be delivered to my house.

So many regional differences in such a small collection of small countries the UK is.

Nothing wrong with deep fried pasties. They are just different from Cornish Pasties. I like them both.

Cornish Pasties are the only way to go. There's a place at Paddington Station that make phenomenal pasties. The pastry is just so gooooooood
