Nice, I'll be sending her one this week as well. Whom exactly did you email at CNN? Can share the email please? If anyone wants to make a list of all the journalists (preferrably ones specializing in immigration matters), it would be useful to just have it here for all to be able to easily email all these outlets. Someone somewhere has to notice.

I just sent in a story idea to cnn. As for the actual email, I had it copied, but my computer started acting up & I restarted it before I realized I hadn't saved it. I basically included the most recent information from the dashboard, mentioned this site & gave some "personal" reasons to make it more...heartfelt. I mentioned all the illegal children & how unfair it was that illegals get precedence. I'm truly fine with them getting citezenship, but they should have to go through what we do-medicals, background checks...& I said that. If someone applying for a k1 can't get in because of a petty crime years ago, why should we potentially be allowing drug cartel into our country?

That's it...

I am the petitioner.

Hey everyone, I'm really glad to see more people are emailing Julia Preston. I contacted her 3 weeks ago and have not heard anything back. But hopefully once she sees an influx of emails maybe this will catch her attention.

I know I'm only a June filer but I want to see everyone approved quicker. I was in the january filers forum and saw that people were tweeting at the new director for USCIS, and have done so as well. But for now it also seems to be falling on deaf ears. I think as you guys mentioned contacting the local Senators and Congressmen and women is the better idea.

There's a post earlier to the effect of this same issue, titled "Possible way to...".

Let's send mails to Mr. Donald Neufeld, the Associate Director of Domeatic Operations

He oversees all the service centers.

We can also use tweeter as another platform...

the people to go after would be Donald Neufeld, immigration reporters, Texas governor and other Texas politicians.

Looks like no one wants bad publicity on tweeter. Rick Perry may not directly get our case resolved but he is all over the news about immigration we could put him on the spot to get him to make some phone calls. Both Donald and Perry would try to save face on social media but that's a win win for us...

what do y'all think?

Dont get depressed. Make preparations by putting things in places for your dear one. The time will come and you dont want to be rushing to do the things you wish you had down before your partner joined you.

The draft has been edited for media coverage (Fox, CNN, NYT, etc.). Please everyone have a look. If changes need to be made, please make them. And then submit to media agencies - Fox, CNN, NYT, NBC, local news channels, and anyone who will listen.

============== DRAFT ===============

To whom it may concern (or insert addressee here),

This letter is to bring to your attention, and to seek appropriate improvement and resolution of, the growing discrepancy in processing times between the two service centers handling I-129F petitions.

Recently in the news, the huge backlog of I-130 petitions was brought into attention via the media (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/09/us/program-benefiting-some-immigrants-extends-visa-wait-for-others.html?hp&_r=2) and it allowed for the processing of these petitions within the goal timeframe of 5 months or less. By doing so, married couples were reunited in a proper amount of time. But now, it seems the I-129F petitions are severely backlogged at the Texas Service Center (SRC). It seems, United States citizens and their fiancés are being sent to the back of the line in preference of illegal immigrants. While I do not have a stance on illegal immigration, I do believe that I-129F petitioners and their fiancés should be treated in a fair manner – by processing their applications within the goal timeframe of 5 months or less, as was originally set by the USCIS. And I do understand, sometimes goals are not met, but once a huge backlog exists, countermeasures should be employed to quickly correct those errors – because in the end, thousands of lives are affected.

As a petitioner living in one of the states that has been routed to the Texas Service Center, the increasing inaction seen at SRC is discouraging to say the least. There is a disparity between SRC and at the California Service Center (WAC) in processing I-129F petitions.

For example, as of late, WAC is completing those applications anywhere from 15-60 days after receipt, whereas SRC is dragging along with a minimum of 5 months and in some cases as much as 8 months.

To demonstrate further, using data from your website at http://dashboard.uscis.gov/, you'll see that WAC, on average, is managing to keep the number of receipts, pending petitions, and completed petitions at fairly the same level with the latest number of completed petitions at 1,948 (as of May 2014 published data) with a total of 2,434 petitions pending. Thus, an efficient 80.03%, of pending I-129F petitions, was completed in May 2014.

In stark contrast is SRC, with the number of petitions pending skyrocketing, while the number of petitions completed has been decreasing for the last seven months, with the latest number of completed petitions down to just 564 (as of May 2014 published data) with a total of 11,342 petitions still pending. Thus, only 4.97%, of pending I-129F petitions, was completed in May 2014.

I implore you to look into this discrepancy in processing times for the SRC’s I-129F petitions. I encourage you to help bring this issue into attention and thus, take action in resolving this matter so that all petitioners, regardless of their home state at the time of filing, are treated fairly with regards to the disparate wait times.

Sincerely,

Signed

Oh...I have. The only things I have left are what can't be done in advance-paycheck stubs, letter from my employer-that sort of thing. And other crazy last minute stuff that I CANT do till he has his visa in hand. (I can start looking for an apartment when he has his interview-I can't sign a lease til he has his visa. I need a new mattress & a couch. I can't get those until I have the apartment. Ugh...I wish I knew a timeline! There's tons of perfect apartments in my area right now, but there's no point in even looking...cuz I don't know when it'll be. I'm currently living with my parents to save up money for when he doesn't have a job. And we aren't having a wedding-just going to the courthouse cuz he's costing me enough money as it is lol) believe me, I've planned everything & have tons of lists.

I am the petitioner.

You can petition the White House on line.

It was tried. We can never reach the threshold for change that way (100,000 signatures in 1 month). The best ways are:

1) Media attention (this is how the I-130s are now being processed in less than 5 months)

2) Contact higher ups at USCIS

We are planning to do both. Many of us have contacted the media, and a letter above in this thread has been used (you can make your own, if you like). We are planning to mail/email the directors together. Some have tweeted them already.

You'll be hitting the 5 months mark in August. I sincerely hope you have an approval by then but goodness forbid not, you can definitely contact your Congressman/woman. Most people that do as at a 5 month mark have reported that it really did get things movind.

Holding fingers crossed for us all!

Julie, looks like you and I are in the same scenario....

I am living with my parents to save money for us when my fiancé joins me. I have been working several jobs (currently 3 jobs). I am on the fench about an actual wedding but courthouse event is at the top of my list.unless, we both want to save towards that within 1 or 2 when he gets here...lol..

Good luck to us and everyone

Have sent an email to Ms Preston, hoping that the backlog of I-129F petitions will catch her eye! I'm a June filer, but the backlog is still worrying as it will just keep snowballing... really hope that something will be done soon. In the mean time, stay strong everyone

Does anyone have any ACTUAL evidence that the unaccompanied-minors crisis is causing the backlogs and slow-down at SRC? Blaming illegal immigrants is a popular pastime on this forum, whether due to the DREAM Act or the recent crisis, but I have not seen any actual evidence that this is the problem. SRC has been processing 129fs at progressively slower rates since January, but the spike in arrivals of immigrant minors seems to have started in May and June.

Including these unfounded assertions in the letter seems unwise to me, and I will remove them from my own draft when I send it.
