I tried to search for the answer to this (probably basic) question, but I'm still confused.

I received my NOA2 on June 16. Today (31 days later), I got a notice that the USCIS "shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing." I did not get a new case number or anything.

Is this different than going to the NVC? Is this an in-between step? Do I just have to wait to hear when the petition goes to to the consulate in DR?

Thanks!

It takes up to 30 business days for the NVC to give you a case number, best to come to the NVC thread and read Saylin's wiki which has all the steps in place for you

You need to call the NVC to see if they have given you a case number and the invoice identification number.

Cheers.

They are a K1 Visa the thread is of no use. That thread is of no use to them. Nor an IIN.

OP that notice was to let you know finally your petition has been shipped off. Department of State DOS), NVC is under so I would start calling NVC after about a week get your case# then you can start doing whatever they do for your embassy to get things moving.
