About the NBI

My friend called this afternoon,she is in Manila right now(K3 visa her application) mine is (K1 visa) and she just took her medical...she asked about the NBI if we need to get an official letter of explanation from NBI. I was confused if we both need this...when we have already our NBI cert. with remarks of NO RECORD FILE. Does anybody here knows??? if we need to get an official letter of explanation when ours are NO RECORD FILE ... this is the only thing i have with NBI..take a look with this pic!

That's the NBI copy that being printed in an official NBI paper, and showing you have NO RECORD FILE or NO DEROGATORY RECORD printed on it.

That's right... My NBI clearance has an anotation of NO RECORD ON FILE and they don't ask for any explanation from the NBI head office. I remember girls there worrying because they does not have a letter of explanation but it went fine as well. As rebelheart said WHAT YOU HAVE IS JUST PERFECT!

when i got my NBI last may it says "no record on file" when i had my renewal last dec it says "no derogatory record"... i only realized the difference 30 min after when im already away from the agency... i was totally freakin out!!! i even asked someone out in this furom b4 i went back to the agency again (on the same day), was fuming, and demanded for an explanation to the girl incharge.lol. she directed me to the official and he calmed me down. saying that "no record on file" is when you apply for the first time. but once you bring the old form and renew it, it will be "no derogatory record" already. that i have nothing to be worried about unless if it says, "no pending case", "no criminal record" etc... so yup as what they've said, IT'S PERFECT! GOOD LUCK!!!

From the NBI site:

NBI clearance should state purpose FOR TRAVEL ABROAD

The embassy lists 4 notations that would need an explanatory letter from the NBI. Aside from the "No Derogatory Record" amd "No Record On File".

Need NBI letter if notation is:

No Criminal Record

No Criminal Conviction

No Pending Case
