Hi All,

I'm currently living in the US, I have my 2 year permanent residency card which expires in October of 2015. I'm of the understanding that I need to apply for my Greencard 90 days before my permanent residency card expires. My question is, can I put those Greencard papers in from overseas, or do I actually need to be in the United States to do it? I plan to be in my home country (Australia) visiting for an extended time around the same time that I will need to be organizing the Greencard papers.

Any info would be great!

Thank you!

This is exactly what I want to know. Cause I'm going to get a job and the company will send me to work abroad for 2 years. I also have a 2-year GC.

Hope we'll get the answer we want. Or let me know if you have any updates. :)

You can send it from abroad. You will be responsible for returning to the US to do biometrics, and an interview, if you should have one. Good luck.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
