This topic question is geographic specific to Costa Rica. We are planning ahead on how to ship her personal items to the US. Shipping is out of the question as I just looked up shipping rates and they are outrageous, so we will be utilizing all of our luggage ( I will return with her, so I will come to interview with her with empty luggage). We will be living in Chicago. Coming from Costa Rica she will be set with summer cloths for what she already has. The point to the question I'm asking is she claims that clothing in San Jose is very cheap compared to the states. Is it advisable to buy as much as possible and load up the luggage rather than buying clothing here in the states, even after paying extra baggage fee's?

Thank you for the replies.. I understand for winter months November thru March we will have to buy her Eskimo gear here. Although she was saying that you can buy nice clothing in San Jose for very cheap such as: jeans $14-25, bras $4 and undies for $1-$2. And both mentioned are very nice that I would be happy with compared to paying VS prices and just as sexy

Anyone who wants to pay VS prices is welcome to.

Outerwear can be purchased at discount retailers for the cited prices or less, and at resale shops for far less.

No one should turn up his or her nose at resale shops without investigating what can be found at what price.

Mrs. T-B. & I built entire vacations around hitting resale shops to build her wardrobe, once she came.

The designer stuff in her packed closet cost a fraction of retail, and no one's the wiser.

Consider the above as you weigh your options (and your checked luggage).
