stop it. we're bashing Christians & people with common sense right now.

I didn't bash Christians. I said I don't understand why they're not applying Christ's teachings and example to this situation. The pope is. I think he's being a model Christian. I wish more would think like him on this situation.

The last guy who did that was crucified...

Smoke, I'm not underscoring the need to approach this situation rationally. I wasn't even touching on the logistics of all of this. This thread was about what the pope said. My confusion was how any Christian would not think this exact thing. They should be pushing the government to come to the aide of these children while pushing for special collections on Sundays. Some of which are. I just don't understand how a Christian says "ship them back or build a wall with guns or something" That is my question and area of concern in this thread.

I don't have the concern of debt spending that you do. Mostly because the entire world's in debt and is continuing to become more so. And since nothing is based on physical pieces of gold anymore, i do believe at some point the world economy will have to be reevaluated as everyone will be hopelessly in debt.

the rational approach to solving this problem is to stop the unrestricted flow first. we have the resources available to do that right now. we also have the resources to accommodate the financial needs of these children. we must stop the flow first and access the true needs. not keep throwing money we don't have at the problem without any plan to actually fix anything. and I don't buy you 'answer' to why you threw the WWJD out there.

I wish. If I don't pay the amount owed on my statement the bank will cancel my credit card. I would urge you to take your statements seriously.

I do. I urge you to do the same.

Considering that these children are all being held by the USCIS, you can see that is being done. They are being held upon arrival, so the unrestricted flow is being stopped. As you say, we have the resource to do so right now, and they're doing it.

I know of several illegals in this area. How many can I send to live with you, while they get on their feet. 10 sounds like a nice round number. They don't require much. Surely you have room for a few starving orphans ?

The pope saying what he did is the only reason I wanted to add to this thread. I just don't understand how anyone that is a real follower of Christ could be for turning away people in need of help. Because I don't think he would be like, "well I would help you, but you're from a different country, and we're in debt" And I don't understand how someone can read the gospel and then advocate building a wall to keep out poor central Americans.

they are doing nothing to stop the flow. what have they done to stop it? why is the president not demanding countries to the south stop allowing the flow?

Oh, I'm probably not going to do anything. I'm not a follower of Christ though. If I was, I would ask myself what he would suggest in the situation.

we have immigration laws for a reason. if fully enforced this would not be happening.

Maybe. Who knows. It is happening, if you were able to ask Jesus what we should do, what would he say. That's all I want to know. Obviously we can't know for sure. But what would you think he would say based on what we've heard of the fellow. He def didn't care about budgets or emigration laws. So what would he say?
