They are coming from Catholic countries and travelling through a Catholic country. Seems the Pope has a lot of other people to discuss this with.

I want to talk to the person that thinks if Jesus was in charge of this situation, he would send them back to their home country and then build a wall to keep them out.

For real though, how can people who's lord and savior is a pacifist come to the conclusion that it's his will to turn away people in need. I've never understood how people managed that type of hypocrisy. Can a christian that want's to "ship these kids back to where they came from" explain this to me? I mean, really.....

The reality is there is no right answer to this situation. In fact, if there was ever a case where one size fits all, this is it. There isn't only one solution for these children, for each one of them has a different story.

IMHO, some of them are here fleeing gangs, but I can also guarantee you there are many who are just probably gang members trying to get into the country to join their fellow gang bangers in the streets.

I don't believe we should just send them back, but I don't believe we should just let them in, either. We are faced with Sophie's choice, in many ways. The only way we can do anything productive is to treat each kid as an individual and make decisions based on each individual case.

For starters, I think we should suspend any and all foreign aid for the countries where these kids are originating, and offer military help instead. If the governments of these countries are unable to fight gangs in their own territories we should offer and endeavor to help. I am sure our military would be more than wiling to engage in a justified campaign, for a change. For the kids who are here seeking asylum, it would mean they might be able to return home and be in their country with their families, instead of all alone in some foreign land. For those who are gang members trying to enter the US to flee the law, it would represent having them being repatriated to face the legal consequences.

We must start somewhere. Pretending we have nothing to do with the situation will not make it go away. Turning everyone back at the border will be as effective as letting everyone in.

In the meanwhile, we could also hold Francis to his word and make the Vatican help us pay for boarding and educating these kids while they are under our care.

Because I don't understand how people can be Christian and think they don't have a higher calling to help the less fortunate, regardless of their country of origin. Especially children.

Wouldn't the goal be to follow his example? Didn't people wear those WWJD bracelets for a while? Its a great point if you think he's the son of God and your personal savior. You should look at the situation and think what he would do. I want to meet the person that thinks he wouldn't let in the orphaned/malnourished children.

Taking a leaf out of the old testament and following the Christian gods example, I would probably kill them all.

As hopefully, a moral and ethical creature, I would try and find some solution for the safe keeping of these children and hopefully find a way to repatriate them or find a safe place for them to grow up and become productive members of the community.

There is the usual level of hypocrisy involved, I think it was the Maryland governor who is a big supporter of what I will for shorthand call the open border persuasion who was against a facility in his State.

It would be nice to see this Politicians in favour saying how many their States will take.

Remember this is just the beginning so percentage would be more helpful.
