Hello Everyone,

I found out this morning that my paperwork was approved last week! I almost started crying! I can't wait to receive the paperwork for the next steps and hopefully get my husband here before the year ends!

Hello Everybody,

It has been 26 days since I filled the DS-261 online. I have talked to NVC and they told me they still don't have my DS-261 (after 26 days!!!??). They are "waiting" for it to assign the IV fee so I have not yet paid that. I did pay the AOS fee, and have sent the financial and supporting documents already (a 60 day wait). Is anybody among you in the same ship as we are?

Thank you!!

Josue

Filed: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Country: Pakistan
Timeline

Hi All,

I was hoping I could get some advice. I filed an I 130 for my husband who is a UK Citizen living in Pakistan and my case was received by the Nebraska Center July 11th, 2014.

Since then, I have filed two service requests (Once January 20th, 2015 --Received reply on February 15th, 2015 and the second March 10th, 2015 and received reply March 26th, 2015):

We have placed your case on a processing hold, because the required security checks remain pending. Until we receive the results of these security checks, we cannot move forward on your case. We require the results of security checks before we make a decision on any pending case.

I am at a complete loss what to do.

I am a United States Citizen (naturalized, not sure if that matters?)

have never been married before.

It's been approximately 9 months (close to) since they received the petition and we have no word. What confuses me about the background checks is that I am a frequent traveller to the Middle East and Pakistan, however I hold Global Entry and a Nexus.

I would think that given all the screening they do to obtain those privileges, I would not have been stuck in background checks that long.

My husband has frequently travelled to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program and has never over stayed.

Any advice on how to proceed? Thank you all.

I am beyond frustrated and feel completely helpless

Hi, I was in the same position as you. Our case took 8 months to be approved and was delayed because of the background checks. Just know that there isn't much you can do to speed the checks up. Security checks for US citizens are usually completed quickly. The problem is the security checks that are conducted overseas. From what I know, background checks for a Pakistani national can take sometime. Also, they will check your names at every country you ever visited. Speak to someone in Tier 2 and try to find out from them when your names passed to the agencies that are doing the security checks. Good luck!

Thank you for answering. I was kind of worried about it. I still have not received confirmation that our DS 261 has been approved, but I called and they said the had it. They just need more time to process it and send the bill.

This is what actually has happened to me also. They have all my supporting documents and financial documents. I'm just waiting for them to send me the IV fee and fill the DS 260.

Well, supposedly after I pay the IV fee and fill the DS260, I was told that I still need to allow a 60 day period for them to look at my case. My wife and I are just hoping they look our documentation sooner than that. We will celebrate our first anniversary in July and I just hope she is here with me to have a very nice big party!! LOL.

Hey Everyone,

I have a few questions. My NOA2 date is March 16th, 2015 and USCIS shows my case was sent to NVC on March 26th, 2015. I never received an email notification of my NOA2 but I did receive the paper copy.

Does anyone know why I wouldn't have received the email copy? Also, when the DS261 is sent will I be emailed or my husband (the beneficiary)? I haven't received anything to date and am a bit worried based on some other timelines I'm seeing.

I think that the paper copy is the one that matters.

The same happened to me, I was registered to receive notifications when new information was available for my case, but sometimes that email did not come. I don't know why.

Once the case is at NVC, you will not receive emails from USCIS.

It will take NVC a few weeks after they receive it in order to assign you a case number. I think for my case it was like a month.

You will log in to https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspxto fill the DS 261.

I recommend you to call NVC for specific information on your case.

Blessings.... I hope I helped.
