Help! The moving company I MAYBE using says that they need my 1-94 before they will ship my stuff.

IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THERE IS NO I-94 FOR CR1

Does anyone know if my stuff can cross first with the moving company? I am driving and will follow a few days later....all 3000 miles!

They asked for a copy of my visa to check on some site (which i believe they are wrongly looking for an 1-94 on cpb)

What do CR1's need? I see there has been talk about this before but I don't know for sure if my stuff can cross FIRST, and what exactly they are looking for.

Please advise oh wise ones!!

Immigrant visa holders, such as a CR-1, do not receive an I-94. If the company doesn't understand this, perhaps it might be advisable to find another moving company that is more cognisant of the law.

Your stuff can enter the US at anytime. However the moving company may require certain items from you to prove that YOU can enter the US. If you cannot enter the US than they are not moving personnel belongings, but shipping items from one country to another and that would open up a whole different can of worms where customs is involved. I would think all you need to do is show them the CR-1/IR-1 visa in your passport and as long as you enter the US before it expires there should be no problems. Maybe you need to show them you are married and that the stuff is going to your spouse's house and it is joint property.

I think the moving company wants to continue to be a moving company and not a shipping company and have to deal with customs.

Well I finally got thru to cpb. There is no 1-94 for CR1. And you do have to cross first. They require the date of entry on the 3299 for the moving company to send the stuff and it be duty free. And they stamp the visa in your passport.
