Admin if this is in the wrong place please relocate.

Ok I am so frustrated right now! We already got a 221g for my Divorce Decree after the interview and sent that in and everything was fine. NOW, I get an email from Montreal saying I need to send in proof of my liquid assets???? My income alone is enough!!! What are they asking for exactly? We can't afford to get this wrong right now so we need help. Bank Statements? We already gave them the I-134, employer letter, paystubs, and bank statements at the interview. The bank statements were ones I printed from my online banking....do I need to get something officially signed by a bank employee?

PLEASE HELP! :crying:

Were the bank statements verified by an official from your bank?

I think they want a letter from your bank officer on the bank letterhead. It should show the current balance, date account opened, and the total deposit for last year.

Yeah that, this is what it says from the I-134:

Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial
institutions with deposits, identifying the following details

regarding the account:

1. Date account opened;
2. Total amount deposited for the past year; and
3. Present balance

This is the only thing I can think of that I didn't send in.....but why even need it if my income is enough by itself?

Proof of income is only 1 part of the requirement, check out the "Supporting Evidence" section.

Don't panic! Getting the bank statement is easy, just call your bank's customer service and tell them you need a letter on official bank stationary stating everything required and say it's for immigration purposes. They might charge you $10-$15 or it might be free, depends on the bank. Mine took 2 days to arrive in the mail.

Ok so.....does the statement need to have an original signature from the bank employee or can I scan it and email it to my fiance?

Also, what if they amount in my account is different than the original I-134? Do I need to redo the I-134?

The rules vary from one embassy to another. Some will require a statement from a bank officer, some will not. I believe the instructions for form I-134 specify that.

My bank will charge at the minimum $20/hr to tally the total deposits for last year. My bank officer told me I could print all bank statements for last year, highlight the deposits, and put that on a notarized letter if I don't want to pay them to do it. The bank would provide me a statement showing date account opened, current balance, and average 12-month deposit free of charge and it took them 2 days to get it in the mail. No signatures; just info on a bank letterhead.

When did you do the I-134 or print the bank statements? Check whatever that date was, then tell the bank you want to start from that date and go back to that same date the previous year (for the total deposits over a 1 year period).

I am so sorry you are having this trouble Abby :(

But the above poster who said the bank letter is easy to get is right. I went to my bank, spoke to the customer service rep about what I needed, and actually as soon as I explained that I was engaged to someone wanting to immigrate here, she was so helpful. She typed up a letter with my present balance, signed and notarized it, and even gave me her personal business card to attach if the people needed any thing else from the bank.

Hopefully this will be all they need. Personally I don't think you need to do another I134 since they didn't ask for it. But I could be wrong.

Good luck.

Yes, they want that letter from an official at your bank. Like aruadha said, don't do another I-134 because they didn't specifically say they wanted a new one, just that one piece. Just call or go to a local branch of your bank and tell them you need those 3 items requested for immigration purposes in an official letter signed by whoever pulls the records. Bonus points if you get it notarized like aruadha did but that's not necessary if they can't do it right there, a signature with the person's job title and contact info is enough. Instead of using the date you filed for your I-134 just get the current information on your account.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I got the bank letter on Friday. They were very helpful and it was free! It has the date opened, total amount of deposits for the last year, and my current balance. We are going to send that and 12 months worth of statements. I REALLY REALLY hope this is all we need. I will update whenever we hear back. We are sending it in tomorrow. Wish us luck! I will take all the good vibes I can get :D
