What to expect at POE?

Hello All,

Im flying to D.C. to meet Natasha at her POE, then we'll both fly home to Jacksonville from there. I understand that she will need to go to an area to give her documents adn fill out some forms. Am I permitted to go with her as she takes care of this?

Also, if I remember correctly from my trips with entry back into the US, my bags came off the plane because I had to take them and then re-check them back in through security and customs, etc.. Is that about right?

What other things should I prepare for at the POE?

THANKS!!

I don't believe you will be allowed into the international wing of the terminal, you will have to wait for her in the exit part of the building, then you can take her to the domestic flight check in.

And yes she will have to get her bags be and recheck them through customs from international to domestic.

The only way for you to be with her through customs and immigrations is if you were also on the international flight with her.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Correct-a-mundo. She will exit the plane, get her luggage, go to immigration, then go through customs. You will have to wait for her at the domestic flight loading area.

Small clarification.... She will exit the plane, transit immigration, and then collect her luggage and pass through customs. Dependent on her arriving carrier and her connecting carrier she might be able to re-check her luggage before she actually departs the arrival facility because some carriers have set up that capability. United is one that I can think of in IAD.

YMMV
