I guess I need to rewatch that movie

To be fair, when Neo unplugged, he could do some supernatural things OUTSIDE of the matrix, but only he could do this. I read this was an allusion to Jesus Christ and where things got really biblical.

“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” – Coretta Scott King

"Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence; does more than represent the limits of knowledge; it limits knowledge." -Toni Morrison

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.

yeah well, there were no internets to compete with. when i was a kid if i heard a friend had showtime or cinemax (especially cinemax) or hbo - i would definitely try to hang out there. pretty much how i learned about the birds and bees, late night pay cable.

Are you old enough to remember the old cable boxes with the long wire and two rows of push buttons along with the adjustment dial?

Did you ever do that thing where you if you waved your hand up and down (fingers spread out) in front of your eyes, you could kinda see one of those channels?

I used to buy the black boxes for $150 and could get every channel for about 6 months until the box crapped out.

i'm sure i'm old enough, but my parents didn't get cable until the mid nineties. same with a microwave, cordless phone.

i clearly remember the summer my dad got a vcr, it was a huge event. and the vcr was only to be used to record football games.

They looked like this in the 70's. We never had cable either. Used to have to go to my friends house to watch it. We had a 13" black and white tv with the rabbitt ears.

Heck no. The most bootleg thing we just to do back then was watch Jukebox. It was like MTV for poor people.

Not me. Back in the 70's everything was wood grain or paneling, even the station wagons.

I saw a black comedian one time, I forget who, talking about black people and horror movies. It was back when the Amityville horror was a big hit. He said, " you know why you don't see black folks in movies like that,". He said, "Cause blacks folks here, GET OUT, one time and they are like, F this we are gone." White folks got to stick around to get killed. ".

If no one has started a cab company where you live, I'm guessing the population density isn't high enough to support it.

They have an old ratty cab company. I think it's more that unlike the Philippines or even New York city, everyone here drives or has a buddy that has a car. Also the lots are all big here. Almost no such thing as a house here, that requires on street parking.
