Hi everyone, this thread is very helpful and I've read most of it to try and understand what could be the possibilities for our situation. Therefore I still have a few questions.

I (a US citizen) currently live in France with my husband who recently received his cr1 visa. We plan on moving to Florida beginning of October (late September at the earliest).

I read, on this thread, that Obamacare is apparently not a means tested benefit (which is obviously not allowed based on the AOS instructions) but a tax break. From what I read on this page, it is a tax break for CT. Is it as well for FL?

Also what is a tax break? (please note that I have never worked in the US yet so all this is new to me).

Therefore him and I have no American income as of now

We are looking for ways to get health insurance while I get a job that offers insurance.

We were thinking, if it's possible, of getting coverage through my husband's French bank account card that allows coverage up to 3 months from the arrival date, which would allow me to find a job ASAP and hopefully get coverage through it, and if not, well at least we'd be covered for the amount of time we'd be looking for a health insurance company.

If we end up getting coverage through his French bank account card ( it's not health insurance is basically health assistance in case something happens)

How could we prove we can't get coverage through a US health insurance company yet, because of no income and therefore be exempt of the penalty?

- What would you guys advise?

- What should we do to get covered through a company that is ACA ''compatible'' but still affordable, if the job I find does not offer health insurance ?

We really want to get some sort of insurance while one of us (me at least) finds a job which offers health insurance

Thank you very much
