We are trying to change my wife's name on the SSN card after EAD has been received however there is a waiting period until the card can be "Verified" in immigration system. It has already been 11 days, is there anyone to call or anywhere to check to see when we can finally get this done?

Here's SSA contact info: http://www.ssa.gov/agency/contact/

I tried contacting them before and it took me about 40 mins of waiting and the one who picked up my call was not really helpful. So I don't think they will give you any other information, other than "just wait".

I also updated my last name recently and I received my new SS card after about 4 weeks.

That is slightly absurd, there has got to be an easier way. Why after waiting months for an EAD should we have to wait even longer to merely have a change of name on the SSN.

Tell me about it. I am starting to get an idea how government agencies like SSA and DMV got their popularity.

Some folks try their luck with calls and another visit to SSA. You can probably give it a try.

Yea we already went 3 times to the SSO. This morning they merely sent in the documents to be verified without even asking us. In addition, I called the SAVE people as well and they said to check back with the office mid week next week to see if the documents could be verified already.
