I have a 5k race tomorrow and I certainly wouldn't trade you. Good luck!!

You mean you are going to run that far without anything that could hurt you chasing you? I'm confused. Of course there's no need to run if something that can hurt you is chasing you. That's what guns are for.

3.16 miles isn't bad, only 25 minutes if you do it right :content: . 12 miles or 26.2 for that matter, that's crazy.

He'd be a lot faster if he had a killer poodle on his butt.

What time you looking to do that in?

I'm hoping to do sub 20 this year.

Wow dude, that's awesome. This is my first race and my fastest practice time was 25.23. I'd like to get to 25 or a little below. Whatever a 7:45 pace translates to. Realistically 25 flat would make me happy tomorrow. I don't know if I can ever get below 20. I'm going back to longer distance after this race I think.

Well it's a tall order really - fastest I've done it in is about 21:30. Realistically to get below 20 minutes I need to be doing 6:30 minute miles, but I can only maintain that for about a mile and a half.

I'm sure Mr U is very thankful he isn't neglected.

Have you talked to Penny at all?

She posts lots of cute pictures of her puppy, who is pretty much not a puppy any more. She's doing fine. :)

That's fast man. A few weeks about I did some 40 yard sprints with a guy that's training for pole vaulting. It was pretty cool. As fast as you can for 40 yards and then rest up to 30 seconds. Then repeat for 10 minutes and cool down with a slow one mile jog. I think he said we ended up doing 30 sprints. I like doing it and it felt good at the time. But the soreness a few days after kicked my butt and I ended up with some micro-tears in my left quad so I couldn't run for like a week and a half which sucked. But, I'm a gluten for punishment, so I'm planning to try again next Thursday. I'm hoping it will help me lengthen my stride.

Yeah, and tell her to come back because we said so.

I've been running for about 7 years now, so there's definitely been an improvement. This year I did my first 10K in sub 45. Pretty much the fastest I'll be until I shift a few pounds. I've started doing pilates for that and started back at the gym. The downside of that is aching glutes.

Do you use a GPS watch? They can be expensive but I found it's a good motivator, especially as you can see your pace in real time.

Right now I just use the map my run app on my phone for .25 updates. Its awesome for overall pace but worthless for current pace. A friend of mine is going to let me borrow her gps watch tomorrow so I can keep an eye on current pace. If I like it, I may just buy one. :dancing:

The Garmins are good but you have to get the right one. Only thing is their customer service isn't all that great - if it goes wrong you get a 'refurnished' one sort of thing. Some of the older models are still around - the 310XT is the triathlon watch and you can use that in the pool. That's probably about $150 now.

I should be running tomorrow but I'm not - it's 30c here, far too hot to be going out. I have a camelbak, but I don't like running with it.

That's not too bad really. I kinda want to do a mini-triathlon but I don't want to commit to having to find a pool and swim a couple times a week. Plus, there's not many lap pools are this area. Excuses, excuses, I know.....

I can do the bike and the run but I'm a ####### swimmer. My ex did a triathlon a few months back - the distances were pretty short, but the transition from one activity to the next is pretty hardcore.

Interesting VJ doesn't like C R A P.
