To be fair, many states have at some point or another permitted non-citizens to vote, but these rights no longer exist. It's not an issue relating to immigration, so much as a matter of suffrage. The question at the heart of extending suffrage to non-citizens is whether those who are not citizens should be given representation. We're not just talking about situations where the non-citizen is here illegally, but long-term legal residents as well. Should they, who pay taxes and contribute to American life, be entitled to representation? Personally, I see voting as the purview of the citizen only. It is a privilege and one that is underutilised by citizens. We should be working instead to encourage legal residents to become citizens as quickly as possible.

Yes.

And your post rocks.

I thought she said only citizens should vote and we should encourage LPR's to become citizens .

You sling insults about the left like you can't help it. You and LIB would be great BBFs in real life.

You really need to read my posts more carefully. You love to see things that are not there. I am ONLY "insulting" (or rather speaking the truth) about the specific morons pushing this stupid legislation.

And it is you that ends your post with a feeble attempt at an insult while simultaneously making a generalization. But I forgive you.

Yes, that is exactly what I said. :) What I was trying to say was that although I can see strong arguments for the expansion of suffrage in limited circumstances (LPRs or those on long-term, non-visitor visas), ultimately this is an argument we disposed of in this country 100 years ago. It's good to revisit these topics from time to time to see if what worked then is still fit for purpose. I'd argue that it is.

Even a libturd can have nuanced and dispassionate viewpoints from time to time. :)

I thought that is what you were saying. BTW Libturd is a violation of the TOS. But I fear you so no report

I agreed with what you said, but I don't think some on here comprehended what you said .

To be fair states like AZ and TX are trying to enforce or parallel Federal Law (and in many cases violating peoples constitutional rights in the process). NY is going against Federal Law

Az and TX are trying to enforce Fedral law, because the Kenyan will not

AZ, TX and AL are not enforcing federal laws, because they can't. Immigration is not under their purview. They are just grandstanding and pandering to the unaware. They can parallel them as much as they can but in the end, when it comes to immigration laws, they can do as much as NY. There is absolutely to effective difference in any of these laws.

If you wrote 'AZ and TX are trying to enforce Federal law because the Administration will not' I think that would go over better FYI.

Which begs the question as to why aren't these states patrolling the border instead of whining about everything? Why aren't they sending the state troopers, policemen and other state LOE to patrol the border? Why must they wait rely so much on the nanny government to do everything for them?

I know but I find the Kenyan thing funny. I don't mean it in a serious way, although it is accurate . Even Chelly said so. It drives the "oh we are so FABO 7" crazy :)

Becuse when they passed Arizona SB 1070, so they could take care of it, instead of relying on the Nanny state, they were sued and blocked in Federal court by Obama's justice dept. I guess Obama found, actually deporting and refusing entry to illegals distasteful.

There is your answer .

So, it's speaking the truth when calling someone a loony lefty, but if someone questions your reading comprehension or God forbid, compares you to another member who does the exact same thing, it's an insult.

She did.
