Thanks guestgulkan,

Assuming we follow this approach, is it really urgent? Or it can wait at least a couple of months?

I really appreciate your help guys.

I don't know how Tunisian consulate will see it, but in Warsaw (Poland), getting married just before interview is not an issue at all for DV winners. Actually people that were single or had girl/boyfriends were asked if they're sure they don't want few more days to get married - at the interview ! So check out your specific embassy review as at least for some of the out there - as I said - it's not an issue at all.

I agree with others. Why base an entire life and struggles around a ceremony.. Legally wed now and have your ceremony at a later date. We did ours in court in the USA and a year later had a ceremony in Russia for her family. Also takes a lot of pressure off the planning!

The sooner the better.

I disagree that you can wait a couple of months because the 50,000 DV visas for DV-2014 will run out by the end of the fiscal year. You must apply for a visa by the deadline of September 30, 2014.

FirasAloui is talking about DV2015, and the case number is fairly high (82xxx). So there's time.

Thanks for the replies, We will see when we can get this done as soon as possible :)

This is a great news Kzielu thanks, I couldn't gather many info about how it has been in Tunisia, since the number of selectees is really small here comparing to other countries (221 for DV2015).

I'll try to call them and see what would be there suggestions.

This is what you need to do:

  • Contact the KCC and get the DS-260 unlocked
  • Add spouse
  • Submit it again

As Susie said you can wait a few months and then get legally married. Anytime this year or even early next year.

It's sooo much easier if the consular official thinks you're already married rather than if you 'surprise' them on the day of the interview. They hate surprises. Surprises = suspicious.

Regarding the first bullet point, When my fiance opens the DS260 page, she has the add applicant button enabled. Does this mean that anyone can add any new family member ? or do we still need to contact KCC.

Also the only, reference to spouse that we can recall was the following question : Do you have any previous spouse ? to which we responded by no assuming that this means (divorced spouse ). Can anyone tell us if our assumptions are correct ?

Thanks

Are you saying the OP should get KCC to open the form, update and submit it right away and then get legally married?

Yes the selectee can add family members acquired following their selection - family members such as new spouse or new babies. However in the past when selectees sent in forms to add new family members, they needed to include marriage or birth certificates. So it would make sense to do the same thing even with this new process.

Yes your assumption is correct. Of course it could also refer to a dead spouse.

Yes but as said above do NOT add until you are legally married.
