Just wondering this, since when I went to file my K-1 the only address they give to file is the Texas service center. Did everyone else choose to file at a different location, and how did you chose where to send it. I had a friend that had a lawyer do hers a few years ago, and she said she thought it went to Vermont or something. I am just confused because if the USCIS had a different location to send it too on the website, I could've picked differently. Thanks everyone :)

All K1 petition are sent to texas..from there they send them to either California service center or texas service center. You don't have any control on where it gets sent out to. So you are right on track. Your NOA1 letter will let you know where it's at. Good Luck!

I-129fs are only sent to the uscis Dallas TX lockbox (http://www.uscis.gov/i-129f-addresses), and NOT to any service center. This is not the same address as the Texas Service Center either.

Uscis will then assign the service center depending on the state of the petitioner.

Thanks...guess the confusion comes from everyones timelines. When ppl put their filing location, and than it says transferred and most say no. Just didn't get that, because it was transferred. Is there a timeframe on average for them switching you to another location or does that happen with the first NOA. Also if your going to get a RFE, does that happen within a certain time usually, or can it be 4/5 months after your NOA.

No. It wasn't. It was sent. A transfer is when the adjudication of your file is changed from one service centre to another. All files are sent to the Dallas Lockbox, not the Texas Service Centre, these are 2 very different things!

The first NOA will tell your where your file is being processed, not that your file has been transferred.

RFEs can happen at any point when someone is looking at your file.

These cases are sent to Texas where they are then assigned to a service center in an attempt to balance the work load. When the case is assigned an adjudicator or case officer it will be reviewed. During that review if it become apparent there is additional info required the officer will send an RFE. This can happen at any point in the review process.

Just made sense to me that if your application goes to Texas that it would start at the Texas Service Center, than get transferred. OK, I guess not. And those people that have been transferred, do you get a different letter later on or does that usually happen in the beginning of the process?

Yes. Should your case be transferred, you will receive a transfer notice that looks like this: http://i39.tinypic.com/29q0avq.jpg

A transfer happens months after being assigned. Mine was transferred after 4 months in the Vermont Service center last year. It is highly unlikely though for a I-129f case to be transferred [this year].
