Granted the internet and other modern technology make it easier for pedophiles to lure their victims, but I don't believe that pedophilia in general is any more prevalant today than it was 30 or 100 years ago. Also, the coverage of these crimes in the media is much more pronounced.

I expect that in the general population at any one time there are only a tiny proportion of adults who are sexually attracted to the sexually immature (both mentally and physically immature) and I very much doubt that the proportion changes from one generation to the next. I think it's appropriate that in the modern era we are concerned about the health and welfare of those who are under the age of sexual maturation and have implemented laws to protect them and prosecute those who think that they can do what they like whether by rape or enforced prostitution or statutory rape where the child/adolescent seemingly consents to the sexual acts. I think the majority of adults are now perfectly aware that assent to sexual acts by minors is usually not an act of informed consent, but rather coercion and manipulation by the adult. I think we have all heard the excuses pedophiles make as to why they should be allowed to have sex with adolescents and children but I don't think many are actually fooled by those arguments anymore, although obviously some adults still think that girls of 14 who have periods and could theoretically have children know everything there is to know about sex and are right up for it with men of any age, because, well, they want it, they ask for it don't they? It's only right they should be allowed to have sex, and be paid for it too
