Do You Need Return Tickets Before Going to the U.S.A.?

Anyone here who has been to the U.S. and bought return tickets before entering port of entry in the United Sates? Is it one of the documents you have to show them in order to get in?

It would be wise to have one or an ongoing ticket if you are going to travel to another country from there, they will most likely ask, as a tourist they will want to know that you will not overstay your visa limit.

From my experience, before you check in at the airport, there's someone there to check for your return ticket. They want to see your return ticket before you can even get to the counter to check in. My flight was from Singapore. It might vary from country to country

Thank you for replies. My concern is what if I bought return tickets and the date exceed from the Customs and Border Protection officer's length of stay? Do you know any airlines in the Philippines where I can buy return tickets that has open date? I am trying to search on the internet about this but can't find any.

Just get a ticket that you can rebook. Ofc there are extra fees to be paid when changing dates but it's better than forfeiting the ticket altogether.

When went to the US I wasn't asked when exactly I was to leave, just how long I was staying. I showed my return ticket anyway.
