Hi, there. I'm new to this forum. I have a few questions regarding my father's application to sponsor my mother and young brother (over 18)?

My father receives SSI every month and has federal housing. I am a college student receiving financial aid. We are both US citizens.

My father has filed the I-130 application to sponsor my mother and younger brother (he's 19) and it was received. The NVC sent us notice to submitt he DS-261 form and paid the Affidavit of Support fee. We already did those. The next part is sponsoring. Since my father does not have the required income, he has to find a joint sponsor. My questions as followed:

1. For the household members when filing the I-864 form, do I need to count my mother and younger brother (who are being sponsored) when calculating the 125% poverty guidelines?

2. My father receives federal housing and he only needs to pay the amount the housing authority told him every month. Can he use it as his income? I read in the instructions that free housing can be used as income.

3. If my father finds a joint sponsor and my father does not meet the income requirement, does the joint sponsor need to include my mother and younger brother as his/her household member to calculate the 125% poverty guidelines?

If I cannot find a joint sponsor, what are my available options as of right now?

None without a qualified Joint Sponsor.

Sorry but if your father can not find a Joint Sponsor then he will not meet the I-864 requirements and visas can not be issued to your mom and younger brother.

No Joint Sponsor = no visas.
