It's unclear: 1) how long police records are valid for in light of an upcoming Embassy appt.? Another words, if your appt is, say, scheduled for Sept.1, how far in advance the doc should or should not be obtained?; 2) is it a designated form (DS-230, DS-156 and the likes) or it may look different from region to region or from city to city?; 3) does it have to be translated into English? Thanks to anybody who has any inside on it.

My fiancee studied in Moscow for 5 years and she has requested Russian police certificate

and this is 4th week, and Russian embassy is telling us that it could take up to 4 months.

So if you need to get the Russian police certificate, do it as quickly as possible

from nearest Russian embassy/consulate office.

I'm not 100% sure if it needs to be translated to English,

but we are going to get it done anyway just to avoid any headache later.

My fiancée in China just received her Russian police certificate,

4 weeks after she requested it. Actually, it was ready after 3 weeks,

but they wouldn't confirm when she called them after 3 weeks,

so she had to go there in person.

It came in English.

Thanks for your replies. It clears one part of the question as far as translating to English goes I believe my fiancee has a way of expediting that certificate. But I guess I was unclear with my original question therefore, there were multiple reads and no replies. And what I meant was this. Your lady got the certificate NOW but how long it's valid for? Especially, with her appt coming up... soon, I guess? Also, whatever city or region she's got it from, is it going to look the same when my girl gets it from another city or region? What I'm getting at is, how do you know it's going to be accepted by the Embassy and not considered fishy-looking?
