Oh my gosh!! Haha this post stressed me out so much yesterday, I logged on today just to see if you had found the passport!

I have a similar tendency to lose things that I've safely hidden away too, so this is like my worst nightmare.

Yay on finding it again!!!

Good luck with your interview today, I hope it's smooth and quick and painless.

Don't be surprised if they reschedule.

In some countries, there is a procedure by which a passport can be rush ordered. See if Malaysia has one.

For instance, you can get a same day US passport if you are willing to travel to the office where they are made up and have a legitimate reason. I once got someone a US passport for a new born in one day. We had to drive from Albany, NY to Philadelphia.

There is a technical problem with the issuing of passports in that the machine that heat seals them together has to be run continuously so they only have them in centralized locations where it can run all day.

A travel agent in her country would probably know if a a quick replacement passport can be done. Possibly also a national elected official. A passport that is not made with the heat sealed process would not be accepted by anybody.

My fear is that when she checks in without a passport, the Consulate won't even let her sit in the waiting room. They are oriented to keeping the passport at the completion of the interview, stamping the visa in it and then delivering it the way that the consulate in that country handles it.

I didn't see that you had found it when I just posted. But some of the information is of general interest to people who read the posts so I will leave it up.

Thanks everybody. She has had her Document turn in and is currently waiting to go back to the Embassy, I believe she said she wont have to wait in line as she was 1st or 2nd. Anyways , I had to try to keep from falling asleep, That's something hard to do when you are half way around the world and she wanted to get a nap in. I did not want her falling asleep and not getting up in time lol. I think she is making me more nervous then she is of the interview.

ok back to my Bourbon and coke, beer is just not enough atm and I usually don't drink the hard stuff, must be the nerves

One of the requirements for her getting a visa is that she have a valid passport. A valid passport means that she has the permission of her country to leave. They can't make a decision if they can't establish that she has a valid passport. Someone awaiting a criminal trial, for instance, would have their passport revoked, suspended or placed in the custody of the court. They also need to see the expiration date.

Glad you found it!

I did something very similar with my engagement ring. I was due to travel, didn't want to take it with me (in case I got mugged) so hid it (on the off chance that the house was ransacked whilst I was away). Totally forgot where I hid it. I searched but couldn't find it for two hours - started thinking it had accidentally been thrown out and totally panicked.

My Mum found it. Mum's must be special like that!

Good luck with the interview - hope all goes well.

Thanks, Nick & Diane! My visa secured, they advise me to pick up on Thursday ^_^

Lol. This just made my Monday. Seems like we have the same tendency in hiding our special things, and apparently good at it too.

With this immigration process, I have learned to just place all the visa-related things in one drawer then and somehow became organized with the rest of my stuff. ^_^ All the best to the upcoming interview!

Thanks, Sweet cakes! My visa interview just over, and secured ^_^

I can pick up on Thursday ^_^

yeah, I am not going to put my document in mysterious place again, John said he is too old to play hide and seek :D

I'm so glad the passport situation has been resolved. God is good! Prayers really work. :dancing:

Amen! GOD is GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!! :D :D :D

Really glad to hear it was found. Best of luck with the interview. It will go great.

Almost done!

Thanks Mark, your info is very good! I am sure some newbies need it... :)

Here we need about 5 days to proceed new Passport (for lost passport), normal like renewal or replacement only take few hours. Our country very small (33mil population), and about 15% of the population are government servants :)
