Cheers. Well I'm not going to bring it up unless asked, and I always have the photocopies in the eventuality that I am asked for them. It was just that I read somewhere about someone being asked for their old passport at the security window/kiosk before even entering the Embassy.

Just an input. They kept my originals. I didn't receive them back with my passport. Had to order a new birth certificate once I was in the the states so I can get married.

Thank you, planning on making the move in 9 days. Good luck with your journey.

Another in this thread who had their interview recently said that London kept their original documents too.

It could have been two mistakes.

But at the first window at my interview i got told twice that the system had changed. One possible explanation could be that they take the originals and during the "administrative processing" phase on CEAC they scan the original and create a digital copy for their records. I have no basis for this theory, i could be way off the mark.

Had my interview on sept 5, they didn't keep my originals, although they never asked for copies either. So I guess they now make copies of the originals themself (maybe that's the actual change). The CO must have forgotten to give back the originals to you at the interview (I would have asked if he hadn't given them back).
