Well I finally did it, I contacted my senator and congressman to seek help on my case. Tuesday I sent in the information to my congressman’s office and today I sent in the privacy form required to my senator. I called my congressman’s office today to see if they had received my documents that I faxed and the person that I spoke to on the phone was really nice. She said "you must of read my mind or something because I just finish putting through a congressional inquiry for you”. She said it usually takes about 30-90 days to get a response but she also told me to call back as much as I liked to see if she has heard any thing yet…..so I thanked her and went my merry way, and now I’m sitting here twiddling my thumbs again waiting for news. I hope this will help us move along the way with the rest of the visa process. How long did it take for any one to hear back from their congressman or senator with news regarding their immigration case? Is there hope? How long should I wait before I call?

Posted

congrats on taking this step. It is not fair that they have kept you waiting so long.

If it was me, I would call at least once a week after a few weeks. But honestly i dont know what the answer is.

Good luck

In our case it was 30 days from each time the senator inquired on our status at Islamabad before they gave me a letter to the response. And both times they got a a response it was the same canned one that I got from the embassy. So if your liason person will work with you then contact them every two weeks and see if they are co-operative and ask for a status update? Good luck and hope you get some answers soon.

It's friday and I see lots of people getting approvals and they applied sept- oct nov Im happy for them but it just makes me sink deeper in a pit. I know that the congressinal inquiry was just sent off on Wed but I guess I just have hopes that I at least we can have a touch or something for either of our applications. ~~ sigh

yeah, I think every state is different. I have both senators working with me and another congressperson as well. The congressperson, I contacted on the day of my husbands interview. They "got on it" right away. The same day actually. He mails me all the correspondence he sends and receives. The senators reps are taking their time tho. I just contacted the second one 3-4 weeks aaago so we shall see. Since I faxed over the authorization, it was a week later when I got the letter saying they contacted casa.

For whatever your reasns are for needing them....

GOOD LUCK!

It seems like knowledge might be thinking that your I130 was retained due to the new policy - but that doesn't make sense since neither of your petitions have actually been approved yet.

ok sorry, my english is not fantastic sometimes...when i said that i had in mind the 1 or 2 posts i have exchanged with a member (ops sorry i forgot the name) who mentionned he was told that they have blocked or stopped his I-130 to let him continue with the K-3... I just made an association, trying to "read" your Timeline in this regards...I have no clue, maybe i'm totally in the twilight zone..but to me it seemed that they worked a little more on your K-3 as well...it's too early to say because there have been only 2 touches...if i remember well...It's not important...as i said, it's too early and maybe i'm wrong...

It seems like knowledge might be thinking that your I130 was retained due to the new policy - but that doesn't make sense since neither of your petitions have actually been approved yet.

When they block it now to some it didn't make sense for us either; when they included now more request of evidence from the begining in the I-130, it didn't make sens either...so...if like us or deep and others the process is slower...and maybe for us who didn't do K-3, but only I-130, with all these tightening of requests...who knows...but we notice that they work differently on the I-130.. that's an evidence to me...
