A fact, eh? Got links to show how much better they (the Swedes) have it than I do?

Focus, focus. The debate is between Sweden and the US. Fact.

Reality is that we are dealing with subjective notions. The best country in the world is the where you're happy. We can discuss quality or cost of living all we want, but in the end, it is a very subjective choice. Yankees of Mets - pick one.

The yankees are not OF the mets. And neither one is a place to live, nor do they bring happiness be being around them. But your point is well made, though I jest ye about yer grammaticalness.

More to the point was how MBD like to throw around "facts" that are nothing more than his way of portraying his notions, or in most cases, in some way trying to put down the US. Just his methodology, but it does at times grow tiring. Lucky for him the mods don't hold him to the same standard as everyone else.

You might consider taking the time to learn them all, instead of posting any links you find on the interwebs.

Having lived in Sweden myself, I find it interesting that the indices above do not mention the cost of healthcare and college education in Sweden.

Hint: Ask the Swedes.... ---> https://sweden.se/society/20-things-to-know-before-moving-to-sweden/

Great! A top 20 list of anecdotal musings by people from Sweden. Not one statistical or measurable bit of info in the whole article. While I give you kudos, as it took more effort than your usual face palm, and I am sure such hard data information as "The swedes are an outdoorsy bunch" fascinate you, it hardly has any bearing on quantitative measure of the quality of life.

I did find " #17 Special days celebrating food" fascinating. They proves without a doubt they have a better quality of life .

Kudos my boy, you may rise to actually posting a real rebuttal at the rate you are going

But you will admit it was a step up from a Face palm or a you missed the point graphic. Maybe if we are patient, in a few months, one them might actually form a coherent rebuttal that actually pertains to the subject of the post. I am an optimist .

The Swedes are happier than you. So says Forbes.

Sweden made # 4 in the list of the happiest places in the world. The US didn't even make the top 10. ;)

Subjective, but the fact still remains we have a higher quality of life, by all measurable metrics. Which is not what you said.

Nice straw grab, but sorry. No Joy. However keep it up, still better than the face palms.

There are detailed statistical comparisons on this site between the USA and any country you care to compare it against, for ever category you can think of. However, I don't expect anyone to look at it.

The issue with much of the data you look at - specifically income and disposable income - is that it is average values. Those mean might little when you have huge income disparities such as you would find in the US. It does rather little for the quality of life for the millions of poor in the US that there are some stinking rich people also living in this country. A much more meaningful measurement looking at the country as a whole is the median income, for example, because it tells you where the mid-point for the entire population is - i.e. the point where half the households take home more and the other half take home less. Looking at median income, you will find that the US trails Sweden significantly - 50K vs. 43K. That means that the majority of households in Sweden makes more money than the majority of households in the US.

Now add on the simple fact that Swedes fare favorably over Americans when it comes to economic mobility.

Economic-Mobility-Across-Developed-Count

Now tag on a safety net that doesn't take a back-seat to anyone but maybe Norway, a life expectancy that is well beyond what America has achieved, an average of 4 weeks more time off from work per year yet producing a higher per capita GDP, dealing with less crime and much less violent crime than Americans and it becomes clear very quickly, why Swedes are so much happier than Americans.

Now, I don't know how you define quality of life but to me, it would appear from the plain stats that for the majority of the populations, America has got nothing on Sweden.
