I don't believe it because guns are illegal there

I hated the kids that tried to use acid or some other bs.

I had several friends that did Acid. Some were overweight also. Do you hate everyone ?

Knife murders?

Guns are not illegal, they are restricted.

To normal people, more than one gun in a home, of whatever caliber or shot potential is an arsenal. We don't need weapons for personal protection in the UK anymore than people in the US do. The population as a whole is more safe now than it has ever been. Yes, crimes occur and some are violent but few would be prevented if individuals were armed and we would have to put up with the draconian measures that are used by US police force in order to arrest, question and convict suspects. In the UK, you are rarely frisked at gun point, or cuffed or taken off in armored vehicles to the cells. Oh, and as already mentioned, mass killings are rare, in fact random killings are rare and being killed by a policeman rarer than hen's teeth. If you suffer from mental health issues you are unlikely to either shoot someone or be shot by the police, you are likely to be being treated 'free' at the point of care by our excellent universal health care system. So, yeah, you have the freedom in the US to have guns, commit mass murder by gunfire, commit suicide by cop and be treated like armed threats by the police. It's not a win win for the US way of doing things in my eyes, far from it!

He only had one gun.

I have an arsenal of knives, who needs more than one?

The article claimed he had more than one, or are pistols not guns? Not being a gun aficionado, I may well have made some technical error. The article doesn't make the distinction you are either, all the items that could be construed as weapons (not kitchen knives you notice) are included in the description of his arsenal. The point, that is being made, is that it is so rare for anyone to feel that they need to protect themselves from the evil people out there in the UK that they don't even keep one weapon, let alone 3, 5 or more (legally owned or otherwise) which is very, very different to things in the US. Would you care to address how the police treat potential suspects in the UK? How often are they arrested and frisked at gun point? How often do the police shoot and kill suspects? Does that part of the if you have an armed population you need an even more armed and aggressive police force?

Ohh dear

He had 2 air pistols and a starting pistol.....

Protecting yourself with 22LR rifle? From rabbits maybe, but nobody would seriously consider that a good choice.

UK has a lot of knife crime.

So another gun aficionado technicality stalling you from addressing the real point of my post, yet again.

People in the UK aren't being duped by a national association of armory promotion that they need to protect themselves from evil, they KNOW from experience, that they do not, it's not a realistic threat for the average law abiding citizen so there is no clamour to have the right to have weapons in the home, and most people don't even have them illegally nor do they want to. That is why the majority of people are happy with the gun laws in the UK, that the police force are not routinely armed, that criminals are not shot and killed by cops before they get a chance to be tried in court and that mentally disturbed people have a slim chance of committing mass murder. It's a complete package, people know that and they do not want to swap the US experience for their own. They are not suppressed by a tyrannical government into coping with terror as poor, deprived, suppressed and unarmed surfs as the OP would have us believe. Far, far from it.

Your obsession with weaponry is not shared by many people, either in the US or in the UK. I think it's a freedom that many people would do without if they could have an unarmed police force patrolling the city streets effectively. You don't seem to see that point and why should you? Your right to bear arms supercedes everything else. That's the US way, fine but don't think for one minute people who don't have that particular freedom want it.

Our government isn't a separate entity to us, the people, and nor is yours We voted for our gun laws and we have no interest in changing them. Why? Not because of some crazy idea that the UK government is a tyranny that does not allow the people to do what it wants to do, but because we KNOW that having guns in the home does not make us safer or more free. In fact, as I have already pointed out, the opposite is true. We have a mostly unarmed police force, not only in urban and rural areas but in our cities. Why is that?
